What height of mounts

Going to be changing some stuff on my tikka. At the moment it doesn't have a picatinny rail fitted, but I intend to fit one.
Question is: after I fit a rail, what height of mounts will I need for a 56mm scope?
I usually like a 4 or 5 mm gap.

You need to get it as low as you can. If you look on the Burris or Leupold web site it will list all their scope ring dimensions. I use Burris signature zee rings in preference to anything else. However I have Leupold rings with my Leupold scope and Sportsmatch on my LR. Both are good.

MED is what I used to use, if they were too high id just add a nice soft cheek pad , with a rail I just get around 3mm clearance Look on the chart for opti-locks it tells you how to measure and get the correct ones .

Burris low signature rings give me about 6mm between the scope and the barrel(varmint). 8x56 Schmitt & Bender(German) with a 1 inch tube.
N.B. Rails vary in height/thickness, especially the extended type that you might think you need for add-ons.

Best bet for getting it right is fit the rail then position the scope on two stacks of pennies until you’re at the height you want then measure the mount height from your pennny pile. He says having assumed what height is right & sent a set of mounts back then checked how to do it on YouTube!
