Which 7.62x39 rifle?

I have a slot for a 7.62x39. I’m not sure which one to get between a Saiga AK 103 and Zastava M05.

It’ll be used for target shooting at 50m and 100m on the odd occasion.

I’m looking for one that has good build quality, reliable, maybe retain its value and parts availability.

Has anyone got experience of these and could offer their thoughts?

As a general rule of thumb in the world of AKs if you want the best always buy Russian. The Serbian Zastava will do the job but it won't be anywhere near as good as the saiga. Aftermarket stuff doesn't fit them, there's no side rail to mount a proper scope so you have to rely on the railed top cover, the stock folds the wrong way and they're over priced for what they are. A better option would be a romanian one if the saiga was to expensive, atleast they're made to the old original AKM specs

Does it have to be on an AK platform? I'm also looking at the calibre, but I'm looking at bolt action

CZ do a 527 in the chambering. It will be second hand but a good one will almost certainly shoot well. @Muir will have an accurate assessment I should think.

Unless you have a line on a Saiga in the UK already you will have to wait for one to come up used as they can't currently be imported due to the arms embargo against Russia from what i understand.
I have a Zastava AK in 5.56, it is a very nice rifle. It cycles well and feels well built. They use an RPK reciever which is thicker steel than a normal AK. They are a modified Yugo version of the AK so if you want to change the stock or grip there will be some fitting work required. Not sure if any more are coming in to the UK now so again what we have here is the stock available.
An alternative you may want to check out is this WBP.
I have held one, but not shot it. Feels well built and the trigger felt nicer than my Zastava I think. There is a black railed version as well if that is your preference.
