7.62x39 bolt face

I've just joined another club that has a lovely 100m range in a quarry but a 2100fps mv limit, rather than a pistol calibre (which I'm selling ;) ) and not wanting to down load my .308, I'm looking at the above, to aid in my search, do any other calibres have the same bolt face as the 7.62x39? I know CZ offer it as a calibre and I don't fancy a break action or straight pull

Not many. 220 Russian / PPCs, 6mm Hornady ARC, and 6.5 Grendel. CZ did a Grendel in the last years of the Cz527 series as well as 7.62X39 - don't know if they've restarted in the replacement series. Howa does the excellent little 1500 'Mini' rifles in 6.5 Grendel. The Grendel can be easily loaded to sub 2,100 fps MVs with 123 and 130gn bullets. (But Howa also lists 7.62X39 in the 'Mini' which is likely the best option.)

Your best bet if you can find one on the secondhand market is likely the old Cz527 'Carbine' in 7.62X39 - a very well made and finished little rifle that shoots very well indeed.

I shoot 7.62x39 and 6.5 Grendel. The latter in CZs, the former in Ruger, Howa, and a pair of CZs. Most factory ammo in either chambering will eclipse your velocity limits. Hand loading either will get you there. ~Muir
