Ha ha, yes that happens too. I have a pair of tawny owls that turn up and 'hunt for the mouse' regularly when I use the call in a certain area on one of my permissions. Poor little perishers must be fed up with me by now.
Owls will come into hand call and fly around your head . Fox will come to almost anything including a smoke alarm and then sometimes not be interested in anything. It's as much to do with the mood of the fox as the caller and call. I called two in last night one with my hand which was 300 yds away when i saw it running in. It sat down at 75 yds. Another called with the Red fox pup call on the Fox pro. Then when I went to another location I could see two foxes worrying lambing ewes in another field adjacent to a perm. Nothing I could do would persuade them to move over the border.
The only down side to hand calling is using your hand after the first one
i use a range of calls because foxes will cop on if your using the same call every time. i use scotch hare call, tenterfield, harmonica, polystyrene and a mirror and one of the electronic callers.
