Which new pickup ????

Had a VW amarok for over a year now after looking at the alternatives and can’t fault it, ride comfort beats all the others, tows fine, Auto box with the Diffs is very good off road and car is a pleasure on long distance road trips as well.

Agree with all that. Did Mid Devon to Glencoe in my previous 6 speed manual Amarok with just a brief stop at Tebay Services for the dog (and owners!) to have a leak. Arrived fresher than in any other vehicle I’d done a long run in. Current Auto is even better.

Really pleased with my new 1.9l d'max. Bought it for a number of reasons but the main pluses that did it for me were:
1. No Ad-blue
2. Under the weight limit for 70 on A roads
3. 3.5 ton towing capacity (though i VERY rarely need this) with a lot of the others if you pull the full 3500kg you only have about 200kg for canopy, extras and passengers, let alone anything in the back.
4. economy is pretty good if you have a long way to go and aren't towing.

Its my first pick-up so nothing really to compare it against apart from an old Landcruiser 4.5 pickup which aren't available in this country anyway.

The only niggles I have with it are that first gear is ridiculously low, but i would only really use it pulling away on a hill or towing so it isn't that much of an inconvenience and that the interior is a bit basic, but i guess basic is good it you are going to cover it in mud anyway.

I think the 1.9 gets a lot of flack, a bit unfairly IMO. Unless you are towing 3.5t around the whole time, you aren't going to notice the 10% drop in torque. You might just have to run it a gear lower to keep it moving.

i had i 2.5 turbo deisel g jeep larado i had it for 18 years, and it never let me down once, but three years ago the ecu went on it, and couldnt buy another one gutted, ive read above threads but nobody has mentioned road tax insurance etc how much are you paying now days, for all these pickups?. bs.

I think road tax for all pick-ups is £250 as it counts as a light commercial vehicle.
My insurance, including off-road use but limited mileage is about £400 quid but then everyone's circumstances are different depending on where it's kept at night etc
