Which Small Landig Larder

Hi everyone I’m planning to buy a small Game Larder.

I’m a recreational stalker, mainly stalking Muntjac, CWD & Roe with the possibility of the odd fallow doe. I’ve been looking at the Landig LU4500 and LU7000 on line and would be interested from anyone that has one, particular in respect of the build quality and reliability given they’re pretty expensive compared to a catering fridge.

I don’t have the time for drinks chiller conversations so only interested in something pre built and would rather buy a quality product that will last.

Any feedback on these products and best place to buy from would be appreciate, many thanks.

I never converted my drinks chillers used a S/Hand one for 10 years, 66kg was the biggest Fallow we got in mine, took it to the Game Dealer after the weekend no problem, the other was for pigeons (same dealer)

Have been using a landig 4500 for last 5 yrs and in my view worth the outlay . Easy to clean and shelves are a must for produce storage after beast broken down .

I dont think you can go wrong with a Landig minus the price and warranty obviously, there a hefty piece of equipment when It comes too price for what they actually do major thing with them Is there designed for carcasses, so there a bit easier too clean.

As Tim said, I would highly recommend looking around for a drink chiller too convert instead £2500-£3500 machine could easily be achieved with a £200-500 drink chiller instead yes a bit harder too keep clean but there honestly not that bad.

Also space a two door chiller we can fit three roe on one side, and have an entire other segment for knifes, meat, trays, and other things red we chop up before hanging but thats more because **** trying too get half side of a red into one lmao.

I have a Landig 4500 having had converted larder fringes and a second hand commercial fridge previously.The Landig is so much better. It been totally reliable and the temperature control is precise and so easy to set and check. It maintains 2c effortlessly in all temperatures which domestic fridges don’t in my experience. The rail system makes loading heavy fallow much more viable for a single person. But the biggest change over previous fridges is the ventilation which is different level. With domestic fridges you can get furring on the cavity after a week whereas I have never had the slightest concern having a carcass in the Landig for a week or more. It would or be fine for 28 day aging not that I have tried. Humidity levels are really important in a meat fridge and this is where Landig have in sorted. So yes get on if you can you absolutely won’t regret it.

The ventilation and pre built HW is what makes the Landig pretty appealing and it takes the time pressure off breaking the carcass down when you’ve got it hung in an ideal environment. Ideally I’d like to be able to stalk at the weekend and not be under any pressure to butcher it until the following Friday or Saturday which sounds achievable with a Landig.

Hi there - I really rate the Landig 7000. I’ve had 3 roe in it but I reckon it would take 6. My only improvement would be a light which comes on when you open it, powered off the mains not a rechargeable one however that’s pretty minor. The rail system is amazing. I can already tell the difference in meat quality.

I use a LU7000 and would say that’s the minimum size you’d need.
Always better to have extra space available and the LU4500 is very compact.
The LU7000 with the 3 hanging rails will accommodate up to 6 Roe and can take Fallow and Sika.

Hi there yes I nearly went for the smaller one. It’s only an extra 485 quid for the 7000 and there is a big difference in size.

I’ve had the Landig LU 9000 for over ten years now
Just recently got the LU 9000 premium a upgrade to the LU 9000 with the fan installed.
I would recommend them yes a wee bit pricey but it’s quality we’re taking about not get any better in my opinion.

I’ve read all the comments and there is some super advice out there which I’m defo in agreement with.

From what you’ve said I was thinking 7000 all the way for you until you mentioned the odd fallow doe for which you may need the height of the 9000. The 4500 is fine for one or two max of the smaller species but it is a compact space and it sounds like the flexibility of the 7000 might suit you best.

Those smaller non-stainless steel Landig fridges are not worth for their price tags in my opinion. Larger stainless steels are much better in terms of quality but you can buy walk-in fridges at those prices.
If you are looking for low scale fridge i would look for reputable stainless steel commercial fridges. The makes i would look for Gram, Williams, Electrolux, Foster, not cheap Chinese stuff. You buy those second hand in good working order around £750-1000 and this will last you forever with regular servicing. You can use their shelf to hang the deer or get a purpose made rail manufactured for extra £100.

Buy the biggest you have space for. They are like gun cabinets and you outgrow them pretty quickly so go bigger than you think - you can hang a small deer in a big space but not vice versa and the more air moving around the carcass the better.
