Why am I only sizing half the length of my neck?

Is it at all possible that your sizing button is hitting the web when you resize your cases? This would prevent the bushing coming down far enough to size more of the neck.
Worth the OP trying without the decapping rod to see. I remove mine and decap as separate step (and mandrel after neck sizing.)

I don’t think so. The only thing I can think is a bit of crud somewhere in there that’s stopping the bushing sitting properly. Can’t see anything but will give the whole lot a thorough clean…

Good clean and strip of everything, particularly the bushing and recess in the die where it sits. Backed off to 1/16th turn of free play in the bushing and now getting nearer 3/4 of neck length sized. I couldn’t get anymore I doubt, but don’t want more anyway so that’s fine!!

Die looked immaculate but I’m guessing there was a very thin build up of something that was stopping the bushing seating properly. That’s all I can think 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ So mystery not really solved but gone away!

Are you by any chance lubing your necks on the outside when you‘re doing your F/L resizing?
Don‘t! No need to. It would explain the build up of crud where the bushing should fall into place.

No, just a light wipe on the inside but there’s a chance some has worked it’s way in there over time with some lubey fingers. Although I thought I was pretty good a cleaning my dies. Obviously not as good as I thought!!

Definitely worth checking shellholder compatibility, ie if it is a Redding shellholder with a Redding die. Also remove or back out the decapping rod

Shellholders supposedly have a standardized height across the brands.
But maybe there‘s one of the Redding Competition shellholders at work.

Supposed to be but it has happened before that the ability to fully size the neck and bump the shoulder has been lost. I would be surprised in this case given the large length of neck that is not being sized
