Hi All, only been stalking for a few years now so need everyones else's expertise please!

I shot this roe buck thursday, its velvet was in tatters but the land owner needed him gone so shot him anyway.

When I took the velvet off I didn't recognise this shape antler and couldn't find anything helpful through google.

Does anyone know is this common, and if so why? Age? Illness? injury? Or just hereditary?

Thanks in advance for any insights you can share!

Roebucks produce all kinds of malforms. I've shot a buck with 1 antler and another with 3 along with various malforms including an 11 pointer.

Curly antlers (like what Anser posted) are a suspected sign of liver fluke but the actual entire subject has never been outright researched too be totally honest I would say your buck there Is just weird If he did not have the curling in beam I cant imagine the slightly curled in tines otherwise would strike you as unusual.

Could be liver fluke or another parasite load but its more likely just weird genetics, or something happened during velvet like bumping his antlers, some deer like reindeer have also been found too intentionally shape there velvet with pressure.
