Heym SR20

I bought my Heym SR20 complete with a 4x32 Zeiss in very good but used condition in 1997 for about £1,300. We bought our flat for £115,000.
Today you can buy a good rifle and scope for about £3,000. A similar flat sold a few doors down sold for about £400,000 a few months ago.
By contrast my Alex Martin sidelock was built and sold in 1921 for £70. About the annual salary of a captain in the Army.
To have a shotgun of similar quality today - a Longthorne perhaps, you are looking at £30,000 - a bit less than an annual captain’s salary.
