I don't think it's that unusual. Over the years, I've come across piles of pigeons dumped in hedge bottoms. This sort of thing never happened when I was a lad!
Thrse shoots need naming and shaming. Also, the public need educating about benefit of eating game
A goose with the usable meat removed is still an awfully big lump to dispose off, not that this is an excuse. What I don't understand is why the perpetrator didn't at least drive 10 minutes out into the fen and dump them more discreetly in a dyke bottom if he had to. These incidents were extremely close to where I live and occurred in very public places. The numbers involved were more than I would choose to shoot - and I have been chasing geese most of my life - but I suppose it is legal so that is O.K. with some.

Still legal to be shot inland in Scotland with lead shot.
Not unusual for english guns to up to Montrose basin, or west coast islands as welk as Orkney and shoot big numbers over decoys.
Mibbee took them home to breast.
In the old days boys used to cone up to solway and drive hone with an estate car literally rammed full of geese.

I spoke to a fella, other day on about a local large shoot.
Game dealers are back to charging 50p to take the game away!!
Then have the cheek to charge the same shoot 6 quid if they want oven readys back.
Look i realise they have overheads etc, but was only 10 or 15 yr ago they actually had to buy the birds.
Yet buy a bird oven ready and theyre as dear as theyve ever been.
Its no wonder their is no market for the the orice they charge.

brexit stuffed the eu market. shoots are charging enough to cover disposal.
no market for the volume thats shot, even little shoots have surplus.
these geese are the result of a lazy dooche, the story has typical nonsense from the local council.

Aye but charging so much for an over ready bird is not helping to grow a uk market.
Who here woukd pay the price of an oven ready bird?
I bet very few if any, and a good chance we already lije eating them.
At that price very few members of public are going to spend the money on a regular basis.

Mate was on a partridge shoot in DnG two weeks ago the 8 guns shot 181 birds. Only two of the guns wanted any birds , he brought home 20 to breast out. The remaining birds were going in a skip. As Benbouy says we are our own worst enemies at times. Pay for a good quality high clay bird sporting day instead or have an outlet already Td up for any surplus birds. These shoots are just profiteering from our sport and giving the antis ammunition.

Exactly my thoughts. It'd never happen but definitely the most logical solution to anyone who doesn't want to take home what they shoot.

Thats so so fecked up for so many reasons!!
A few gripes i have with commercial bird shooting - Double gunning on reared birds is nothing more than profiteering.
Releasing birds without active habitat management or pest control, in my eyes not gamekeeping.
If the lowland shoots had put more emphasis on wild birds and habitat management and only shooting a surplus the value of a dead pheasant would be dramatically more and the reputation of shooting would be justifiable.
I do enjoy a pheasant day and have stood under some phenomenal birds but now a days am more of a rough/mini driven shoot mixed bag of 30 between a few guys.
