As above. Looking to buy a decent wide brimmed waterproof hat for foot stalking/highseat in rain.
Leather ? Waxed ? What won’t let me down ?

TIA Ff

Tilley for me ,been out in some reet hooleys.Stalked in it wore it for beating and after 3 years still not lost it.

Yes, the Tilley has two holes for the strap one either side so you can have the strap (long shoelace in my case) go round the back of your head and under your chin which allows it to stay on really well in windy conditions.

I have a Barmah hat in a bag foldable leather hat for most weather:

and a Hoggs deerstalker for really bad weather:

The Hoggs hat is amazingly weatherproof

Tilley will also replace your hat if it wears out. My first TH5 was getting a bit ragged after 10 years of wear and tear, so they've sent me a nice new one! Can't complain at that!

I would recommend the Deerhunter Chameleon. Brim is wide enough to cover your neck (stops the rain dribbling down your neck), it has a piece that folds down to keep your ears warm in cold weather, and most importantly, the brim is soft and not stiff and so does not foul the scope piece when you come to the shot. Not about looks, its about kit that works practically in the field.

Here is the one I have. They are really tough you can screw them up stick them in a pocket and they still go back into shape. Warm, waterproof and the ear flaps are great in really cold windy weather.
