Will these railing work in my chiller?

Hello I'm in the process of building my outdoor walk-in chiller......I'll be installing a 4 meter rail system that will run from an outdoor electric winch to the inside of the chiller........I'm having a hard time finding a rail that can support wheeled hooks but I found these online and was wondering if anyone has used them?........are they flimsy? Will they support a big red? Are they easy to push with a big red on them

What are they rated at, XL Reds 150kg + Fallow Buck 80kg so look at the spec, 180mm wide will mean the inside of the legs will be close as they sit on the radius of the hook. Just check the weight spec.

They can support the weight just fine......what I want to know is has anyone actually used these before and what are the real life experiences, do they wear easily?.....do they slide through the rail at ease with a big beast

Can't help you, but If it is a solid N66 type of material then looking at the picture it just rubs along on one face as I am sure you can see, if you want less friction look for a type with a bearing and roller but they could be longer so less height, good luck.

There advert mentions ELK so your guess is as good as mine. quite cheap at £15.00 each
  • Commonly used in butcher shops, and for hanging meat, utensils, etc

I use them. No issues on straight sections, not so great on corners. Use food grade grease on the rollers.
Good value for money. I bought the single hooks and then hang a gambrel from the single hook.
I also drilled & screwed the rail directly to the roof. In my opinion this is better than the mounting clips supplied.

You've put my mind at ease, I was having a really hard time deciding what to do, just like yourself I was also thinking of drilling and screwing the rail to the roof but was concerned that the bolt heads would get in the way of the hooks........I'm trying to replicate this setup on a chiller that I've been sharing......on the rail is a 120+ kg red if you think the hooks can support that sort of animal then that's the system I'll install..........The rails and hooks come from CRW, don't know if there stuff is good or not.

Angel refrigeration do good rails with wheeled trolleys.

CRW is where my stuff came from. I welded the bends to the straight sections to make the transition a little bit smoother and so the complete rail is one piece.
Fixed it to the timber studs in the roof using hex head M8 coach screws. No chance any amount of deer on the rails would pull the screws out. As long as the hooks are level when you are sliding them along the rail they will pass the hex head of the screws without any issues. If the hook is totally on the **** they will catch. You could always use coach screws with flusher heads if it really bothered you.

How are you guys supporting your rails in the roof of the chiller?

Do you have to drill through the insulated panel and attach to a structural member on the outside? Thanks.

Yes, i did, im hanging lots of reds. The guy that delivered my panels said i probably wouldn't need an external support as the panels are incredibly strong and will take a lot of weight. My panels are 80mm thick.

Where did you get your panels from? Sorry to be daft but if you hadn’t gone all the way through, was he expecting you to just self tap into the panel or still to through bolt and washer?

What he was meaning was, i could drill all the way through the panel plus through a flat bar ontop of the panels, that way the flat bar and the panels are taking the weight.
I drilled through my panels, then into an H beam about 12" above the chiller, this way the H beam is taking all the weight.

I got the panels from trusty parts, but theres plenty of suppliers out there. If building again, id get the cam lock style panels.
