Winter Gloves

These are...or were they are going in the dustbin...genuine MacWet gloves. Bought about four or five seasons ago and used and put away in a wading jacket and then taken out yesterday with the wet and snow for beating. They had this all over raggedy appearance on areas of the fingers and palm. But were still intact yet by mid-day had gone into holes. As others say...useless! Although having said that my eight year old has now demanded them for a Hulk fancy dress! Waste not want not but a total waste of money for the pair. More Ant and Dec (another "pair" that is a waste of money) that Climatec!

Hestra, as long as you're happy to slip them off your trigger hand when required.

The Guide ones are great but get the Hestra wrist attachment so that you don't drop them from the high seat.

These are superb, and excellent as a multi purpose work glove as well.

Though it’s actually really hard to beat a pair of cheap polartec fleece gloves. Warm even when wet, small enough to stash in a pocket, don’t cry when you lose one. I keep a pair in the truck as backups, and end up using them most days.

Thanks for your input and suggestions everyone, it’s much appreciated.
Neoprene is a no go as I know how they’re not warm when wet having given them a go over the years fishing.
My Harkila’s are completely rubbish so I’ll steer away from them too.
Think I will just bite the bullet and order a pair of the Hestra’s (along with compulsory handcuffs) 😊

Are you wearing them back to front?

+1 for NOT Macandwets.

Wore a pair on a pheasant shoot tomorrow and by the end of the (freezing) day, it was warmer not to wear them! Still couldn't feel my fingers at all.

German army winter glove in flecktarn . Hard to find and for surplus they are relatively expensive but I've had them for 5 years now and never needed anything else. Prior to these wee gems I had been down the Sealskinz, MacWet route on several occasions and it was an expensive waste of time.

No! LOL! I'm now not wearing them at all! But if they were back to front you'd in my picture see the yellow MacWet logo on the cuffs.
HaHa yeah... just the photo looks odd. Your left hand is on the right 😂 have you got your hands on the right arms?

For balance I have 4 pairs of MacWet gloves including the new slightly heavier version for stalking on cold days and I ca not fault them given 2 pairs are over 5 years old

Arctic Mitten

Pick an arctic mitten, any arctic mitten. I've got british army mitten and outers. I can shoot a rifle with them on but often use them as a 'muff' with a slimmer pair of gloves underneath. It's easy to slip the mitten off and take a shot. Most European countries do some version so it should be possible to find a pair thats suits your purpose/tolerance for cold weather.

They're probably well suited to your high seat shooting where warmth is priority over wear.
