Wool

Hi Wayne is that a square mtr . Whats the name of the one which the most dense . So we are looking 3 mtr per jacket .
Hi Pendle, fabric is usually sold by the length, so a meter of what ever width the roll is. Selling by the sq/m would be difficult on a roll that isn’t a meter wide. I think that will be 1.5m wide.

Exactly as wh308 says
The middle one of those I chose felt the nicest and most dense the last one was thicker but held to the light it wasn’t as thick so went with the denser but slightly thinner material I think it will be nice, Hannah hunting green but there was a load more to choose from there was a camo Loden which was the thickest by far which was interesting if you like camo
Dawnrazor when I finish these I could do you a swanndri version, regards Wayne

First hoodless smock almost complete just need antler buttons to finish, learnt a lot on this project, never done clothes before only hammocks and bags, turned out well.

Very tidy, looks a good fit and ideal colour too. Is that single thickness or did you double the material up for added warmth?

I like the look of that my only problem with Loden is the colour while the dark green might be alright for woodland
stalking not so great on the open hill.
On the open hill especially when wet it stands out like a sore thumb you can literally spot someone a mile away with ease, I have seen a light olive coloured Loden that might be better in a mountain situation but have not had the opportunity to put it into practice.

Yes I do see that but for me I only stalk woodland areas, the only few times I have stalked on the hill I wore my nomad I would think the light colours they do now could match similar to a nomad, regards Wayne

Absolutely first class job there. I'm really impressed by your work, I would be proud to wear that smock. How long before you start taking orders?
I have a bit of refinement to do on the pattern, pocket would be better internal, hooded version next not in my size so that will be the tester and after the trousers but I would be happy to make you one, regards wayne

Where did you get your pattern in the first place? Or did you just base it off of another garment that you already have? I'd really like to make one of these with a front chest pocket which could protect binoculars.

I basically used my nomad as a rough pattern, I checked another wool smock as well and they are pretty much identical, here's what your looking for, slope the shoulder to the arm curve the from the bottom of the arm hole slightly taper in the neck line was around 3.5 inches deep but you can alter that to whatever you like, the back i made longer than the front and the neck line is a shallow cut only around an inch deep. most smock patterns are very much the same principle, if you have a hood then decide if you want two piece or sides and a middle and that's it, regards wayne
