Working Teckell stud dogs in Ireland ?

Hi does anyone in Ireland have a working teckell at stud, friend of mine is looking to breed so said I'd put the feelers out for him

There are a few good ones in Ireland but I would not want to start giving details out to people that I don't know. It might sound harsh but if anyone is really keen enough to find a good stud, they should be able to do so.

I understand what your saying Keith "kinda" about handing folks numbers out as its something I'm not keen to do, perhaps if you got a chance to talk to the guy and sound him out as sometimes folk do need a leg up to find the right path.

That’s helpful Keith😉

Touche :) and I did say, it might sound harsh. But the guy already owns a dachshund bitch - any thoughts at all about breeding should start with some deep and serious research as to what stud dogs are available and then whittling it down to the most suitable. If the guy is 'looking to breed'along with the host of responsibilities that come with that, it feels a poor start that he is 'asking around' for stud dogs - Ireland is not exactly a big place.

The Teckel Society of UK and Ireland would be an obvious place to start.

How about doing it the other way Keith.
Get the guy to send you his details and pass them on.
There’s more than one way to skin a cat

tfox was asking for a friend .

The friend if he has done his homework might already know of some teckle sires over in Ireland. That are related or not suitable.

Dont ask questions or sell on SD for a friend
🙊🙈🙉

And would this post not count as "research as to what stud dogs are available" ? Everyone has to start somewhere and why shouldn't it be here ?

If he doesn't personally know anyone else with a stud dog then where is he to start, just approach someone he meets on the street with a daschund ..... or maybe a forum like this would be a good place to start, where there are people who are into stalking, even a chat room dedicated to deer dogs and tracking !! Now if I was looking for a stud for my deer dog and I didn't know any 1st hand I would think that sounds like a pretty good place to start wouldn't you ?

Would make more sense wouldn't it, anyway stud has been sorted now, thanks for your response.

My point was purely that there is a lot more to breeding planning than finding a stud. Hopefully your friend isn't simply looking for a stud because he wants to breed from his bitch.
Hopefully your friend is compiling a list of potential studs so that he then
then has the time to sift through them and decide which is the best match.
If the latter is correct I apologise for my curtness and wish him well.

Yes but finding a stud is a key part to breeding, you based your comments purely on assumptions which quite frankly comes across as arrogant and ignorant.

Don't worry about it, it's sorted now with help from other more helpful members.
