Protective Dog Jacket

Does anyone have recommendation for a protective dog “jacket”

I’m not after full bullet proof protection for a tactical dog before we start

We have a “pack” that are used for working on the estate for beating and pick up duties

There are some areas of bramble that enthusiastic hounds will go to which has obvious risk if injury

Does anyone have recommendations for a flexible jacket brand that would be suitable to provide some protection to abdomen and shoulder of valued working dogs

There are Kevlar boar jackets for dogs - got one in the garage but never used. Might be a Decathalon if memory servers me right.

I've used Hurrta jackets on our working Vizslas and the teckel for years. They stand up to abuse quite well.

Have often wondered about these jackets for when the dog is tracking muntjac bucks as they can be extremely aggressive. Mine also had a good clout of a spiker roe buck this summer that did not drop to the shot. She was lame for a while afterwards.

Got two for my lab.

Niggeloh Follow me and the other a full police spec Defence Composites one.

Use the Follow Me 99% of the time, only use the other if it’s real cold.

Probably two years old, both are very well made and holding up well.

Only really wanted something for the breast plate as my pals dog impaled himself on a branch.

My working cocker is wearing a Browning vest .
Doesn't restrict his movement in anyway and is more that happy bombing about with it on.
He also wears it on our shoot days as to some of the old coffin dodgers we have turn up they might just mistake him as a fox at 30m when he breaks cover .

Any coat will give some protection. I use the Ruffwear one and usefully it gives some protection against injury to the brisket. The outer surface is cordura so hard wearing.

The biggest risk beyond minor skin scrapes and the odd tear is penetrating injuries to the eyes. Not sure if dog goggles are a thing but there may be an opening in the market!!

Edit: they are available…

I had a neoprene one for my setter as a pup. Didn’t get too torn up and gave him a bit of protection from thorns, he’s. Not meant for doing heavy cover though.

My boys just use a neoprene coat if I'm doing anything that may involve rough work but most of the time in the winter they are "Naked" but I will put an equafleece on them when we have finished

I would be mindful on maize stubble if picking up, specially during dry conditions and freshly cut, its very tuff and sharp, its not un heard of having dogs with puncture wounds to chest areas and legs.
