World's lightest quad sticks

Please go away, you're spoiling my thread - you contribute nothing useful with any of your disruptive posts on the SD. I feel that my sticks are considerable better than the ones that you keep quoting, but people are free to choose what they like.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - very happy with your kit and the garden canes are ace for my use, thank you.

I’m sure the carbon fibre ones will be great, thinking of a heavily laid up fishing rod of this sort of diameter, I think they’d be adequate for the use and might flex with weight and return to original in the circumstances where garden canes might bend permanently.

Thank you. Yes, the carbon will flex a bit then return to straight provided it's not stressed to breaking.

The cheap garden stakes are really amazing for the price - strong and reasonably light.

Thanks, I saw the picture of yours that you posted recently and wondered what size tube you'd used. Carbon fibre is amazing stuff!

Made some with 16mm carbon tubes. Mate 3d printed bits with carbon infused material. So far so good. If I break a bit ill get him to print another bit. Simples.
Mk2 is in the making now he's taught himself CAD design.

I took apart an old viperflex set and replaced the legs with straight carbon tubes 19mm I seem to remember. Same idea light and robust . Nice work @takbok

That was the first time I've had the carbon sticks out for a stalk last night. They're just so light and you barely notice the weight. Also they warm up quickly to the touch which should be a boon in winter as I don't use gloves.

Out of interest have you done a comparison on strength between these carbon legs and the standard garden canes? How much additional force does it take to bend/break them?

I ask because I used to use the garden canes but after bending numerous pairs using them to steady myself getting over fences or down steep banks I got some Spartan sticks. Much more expensive but also strong enough to use as a tripod for gralloching a roe or tying a rope to and dragging a fallow behind with two people pulling.

I hung my sika sack with Roe buck off the end of the sticks last night, about 25kg cantilevered about 40cm is what they'll take, so you'd probably drag a medium size deer ok if you don't hold further than about 80cm apart.

With a 5th leg to make a tripod you'd hang a decent size roe easily to gralloch I think.

Yes, will do one for both the 14mm carbon sticks and 16mm garden canes soon - it will be very simple so won't take too long. It will go hand in hand with the mini bipod/tripod design that I'm also doing.
