Hi guys, im in the process of butchering beast just now and came across these two worms. Any idea on what they are? I think the carcass will be getting binned. I’d like to know what these are though. Found on top of the loin.

I thought muscle works would be a bit bigger and live in the actual muscle or am I wrong?

If that is "Brain worm" I reckon they cannot infect humans, It needs someone well up on worms to have a close look.

Gralloched on the hill and then skinned in the larder and has been hanging in the chiller at 2 degrees since Saturday.

I’ve never heard of them before.

I can't find a reference to them in UK deer
If any one can, I'd be interested to know more about them.
As far as I can see they're host specific, with different subspecies of the worm infecting different species of deer.
Widely reported in whitetail and caribou.
Sometimes known as "muscle worm", one subspecies is found close to the spine and in / on the loin muscle.

Maybe I'll ask one of the vets in my family. My sister studied deer parasitology for her thesis.

That was my first thought, but zoom into the pics and they look like they live there, not entered with contamination.

(Either that or the OP needs to learn to wash his hands properly after taking a dump. Oh, and pop down to the chemist for some pills )

I’m on a similar research mission myself and can’t seem to find any that mention UK.

Muscle worms as far as I can tell. I saw them in whitetail while I was hunting in Georgia

I would hold off binning the carcass, try to get the worms into a glass dish of water & take some macro pictures for a better chance of ID.

Took the pictures sent to me by op to my gamedealer, Hadn't a clue either. Never heard of muscle worms.J
