I’d seen him on and off for about 8 months, but he was canny and I never got close.

Eventually, almost completely by accident I bumped him out of long grass and he didn’t take off fast enough.

Got to work on cleaning the skull - i haven’t done it very often, so it’s probably not as white as it could be.

That's certainly a fascinating head.

Is there actually a third pedicle, or are both of the antlers on the left hand side (as you look at it in the photos) coming off the same pedicle?

Two pedicles, three coronets, as far as I can tell.

It also had a length of branch embedded between the two pedicles.

Only just boiled it out. If I understand how it works, I need to wait 30 days or something

Aye,30 days to dry for measuring but would still get a good idea of what it should make with a wet weight.

Wet weight for that head i would be hoping for 500+ and would be look at deductions for the abnormality.
Pics can be deceiving but looks heavy and who knows with the volume until it's in the water.

Absolutely, for comparison the one I have mounted is Bronze by 2 points. Given that yours looks longer and definitely more mass - thicker antlers
Etc it will be worth having measured.
