CIC 'Rule of Thumb' is Nett Weight 375grms for Bronze, 425grms for Silver and 495grms for Gold. Other factors have an effect, but its worth having it measured if it meets these guidelines.

Does that rule of thumb account for a full skull or a skull cap cut?

Firstly, well done on a nice trophy. Very nicely prepared.

Can I ask what the weight and volume were on the day of measurement please?

I did not take a photo of the scoring sheet. However on his scales he weighed 502g
The score sheet is getting posted to me when i get it i shall update

Hello shooters, any tips to enhance the colour in Red Deer antlers. I've cleaned them with a soft spray from a power washer which has got rid of the grime. To be honest they don't look too bad, any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

Bushwear used to do a kit for this, have a look on their website.

Potassium permanganate.

It goes on purple but dries to a very realistic dark brown. Do several thin washes, rather than trying to do it in just one go.

I had some old antlers that had been left outside and gone grey, and it still worked well on them.

JHT Taxidermy sells permanganate

to bring the colours out on antlers as judd says oil works great, some antlers just genuinely look much better with it, some others not so much.

Just keep in mind I think the oil can yellow over time? Do a bit of looking into it first as I've never actually done it myself.
