Update. Had him measured. Ended up a bronze. Scoring 114.70 just shy of silver

There is a 90 grams deduction for a full skull, 65 grams for a long nose cut and 0 for short nose or skull cap.

I did not take a photo of the scoring sheet. However on his scales he weighed 502g

Potassium permanganate.

It goes on purple but dries to a very realistic dark brown. Do several thin washes, rather than trying to do it in just one go.

I had some old antlers that had been left outside and gone grey, and it still worked well on them.

JHT Taxidermy sells permanganate

to bring the colours out on antlers as judd says oil works great, some antlers just genuinely look much better with it, some others not so much.

Just keep in mind I think the oil can yellow over time? Do a bit of looking into it first as I've never actually done it myself.
