WOT Bird is it?

Well I’ll just go hang my 30 years of ornithological knowledge and my career on the coat hook and get my coat instead..... if there’s one thing I do know it’s not to implicitly believe everything the internet tells me, it ain’t always correct. @levigsp please come back with some common sense!!
I think I will give up on this one for it is not possible to get other to see if they choose not to. I have spent a lifetime watching birds. I have spent nearly as long hunting birds, and a lesser period [30 years]doing official bird counts for wildfowl and wetlands.
I do know I have never read such drivel in my life as one of the above cut and pasted posts, snipe and woodcock are as different as wood pigeon a town dove, they do not live in the same areas, the snipe lives in marshes and wet grass, the woodcock in woods as per its name. When I get guests up shooting a mixed bag I am going to have to inform them that we no longer shoot snipe they have been replaced by dowitchers. Goodnight

Hallelujah! Thank you!

Ok the definitive answer is?
WTF bird is it?
Let's see what Levigsp learns from the UK bird experts. Once again, I'm telling you this bird did not have a white belly.
I eagerly await photos. from the first photo I would stake my reputation that it is not a dowitcher, its totally wrong! I have hunted snipe all over the world and have seen my fair share of all waders, including dowitchers. May I forward the photos to our Bird ID panel here in UK?
Zapping them over in a minute, yes, please do have the experts look at it.

Just got done looking at a bunch of Snipe and Dowitcher photos. You Snipeheads just might be correct. The crescent line a 1/2 in below the eye is not in Dowitcher photos and the belly feathers may have dirty from wading in muddy water. Anxious to see what the UK bird panel says.

It always peaves me too when I read about woodcock and the author says they are found in swamps and bogs. They are not! As above, they are found in woods. Alder and birch thickets are some of the best places to find them. Think soft ground with cover and you will find them.

I was wrong, it is a snipe! My first Wot Bird post and I muck it up. The dirty breast feathers on the snipe threw me off. Swedish, looks like you will have to forfeit your prize, John from down under is the new winner.

John, how about my avitar, can you guess where that picture was taken? Hint, not too far from your neck of the woods.

Considering the little girl is standing next to a bunch of Durian , stinky things , I'd say Thailand ........ and I'm in Danang , Vietnam , so I'm closer . What did I win ................. and I'm not sharing with Swedish ........ and the bird is a long bill billed worm sucker , very rare .
