Wow...I'll book a day...

I think we fall foul of falling into the trap of during divided and conquered again here. Its obvious some people, for reasons right and wrong, hold this type of shooting in contempt. Because it's shotgun based, some folk perhaps feel it's okay to bemoan it on a rifle orientated forum, but then go on about how they aspire to, or partake in, plains game, bear shooting etc. Let's try and stick together a bit more ?

I don't post this to hold it in contempt...I've occasionally shot more than the odd two hundred plus bird day...just to query, tongue in cheek, if £52 a bird or £20,000 a day is unusual.

Hello ES, I did not think for a minute you did.:thumb:. The answer to your question could be, why the add is directed at an international forum and not the SD.

If the price is right for the hunters it will sell or it wont. The fellows who are interested in this type of hunt, will, quite rightly, pay only what they think its worth.john

It is a lot of money , but not that expensive compared to some . A few years back our Fish & Wildlife department made a special tag available for Trophy Bighorn Sheep in an area usually closed to hunting . There were at least 7 or 8 potential Boone & Crocket candidates in the area . The tag went up for auction . When the dust had settled , the tag was sold at just short of 1 million , I kid you not . It was a bit of a media event at the time , the hunter , not a Canadian but I can't remember the nationality , showed up with an entourage of about 20 people and caused a bit of a fuss . The money went to habitat preservation , a good cause , and other conservation programs . The kicker was , he didn't get a good shot at any Rams and went home empty handed . To his credit , he said it was an amazing experience and had no regrets . Compared to that , 50 quid a bird doesn't seem that extravagant .

If I am paying 2000 a day for unlimited birds, I expect them to be human and very attractive :D

Each to their own. I am looking to stalk in Turkey and they are advertising roe shooting for 5K a week????? Sounds mad as hell but if they can make the business model work then why not.

Nevr been a fan of driven pheasant shoots. Seems like live clay Pidgeon to me. However I continue to support their existence for those that do like it.
