Wrens

Like little terriers they punch above their weight. As soon as i park the old ute in the drive way they land on the external mirrors and get into their reflections.
I will be getting out of my door and they are already into the war. I often forget to wind the windows up and they spend hours schitting on the sills,i dont mind s i do love these little gems.
Not the cock bird is only just starting to come into his blue breeding plumage...they are dandy`s well fully attired.

Nice one John ,

Top pic look like our sparrows and bottom pic is like one of our blue tits

Very similar to our little fellas over here

Lovely photos John :tiphat:

From the look of that window ledge quite a few have used the ute door as a perch!

I always think of our wrens as the little reprobates of the bird world.

Their shrill alarm chirrup belies their ability to sing beautifully.

Little wonder they’re sometimes known as the King of Birds.

Great pictures of my favourite bird. When I was a kid I always hung onto the farthings because the Wren was on them.
Thats really showing my age :old:

Fidgety little b stewards that need a better set up to what i had in my hand today. They were jumping all over the place like blue arsed flies and wont sit still for a min.

Our wrens are bolshie little sods. I used to have a pair nesting in the porch roof just above the front door. The cock bird (I assume) would sometimes come into the house if I left the door open and he'd perch on the back of the sofa and got very annoyed with me when I came in and try to shoo me out again. Wrens are referred to as "scolding". I think if I could speak wren, mine was doing more than scold. More like a full-on four letter tirade. And it was my bloody house...

Stunning photos Willie Gunn.

I always thought it was a bit unkind that the bonny wee things got the scientific name: Troglodytes troglodytes!

It must be tough having to eek out an existence in the depths of winter when there is little around to eat, and many bigger prettier birds have long migrated to warmer climes. I like seeing the flash of movement in the woods, and hearing their shrill call reminds me winter isn't as dead and dormant as it seems.
