Yet another fake Zeiss on ebay...

Another fake Zeiss..

And yet ebay won't remove it after a report and the seller won't doing anything after it's been pointed out politely that it's counterfeit (to put it politely).. along with evidence from Zeiss themselves stating it is counterfeit and not made by them.

Is it only me that gets aggrivated by fake products and the poor buyers that purchase unknowingly?

It is always easy to tell the cheap fake Conquests from the real deal USA assembled line, for those that may not be aware. The real one's don't have shoddy build material (like a gen 1 Hawke nite-eye) and don't look cheap. They don't have adjustable objective parrallax or AO written next to the MC on the eye-piece lens (The real ones are side adjustable parrallax) . They don't have the Asian cheapo red/green illumination unit ( The real ones are non-illuminated). They don't have the proper Zeiss logo on the unit and on the box (the real ones have the blue colour Zeiss logo on the scope and the proper logo on the box). The box is of better quality on a real one in terms of logo's, lettering and colouring (The shape, font of lettering and colour of the logo are all incorrect on the fake for example, dull and shoddy) . The serial number and barcode will look official on a real one, on this box it is something out of ToysRus.

The label on the box is a dead giveaway

Cheers

It is indeed Bruce.

I was just editing my post to list what makes a fake a fake, to those new to purchasing scopes, who may not know. It's a shame really that Ebay allow it but I must say, it's a little better than it used to be on there.

It's abysmal that they won't do anything about it.

As an aside, I wonder in reality how good they are. Not that I'm tempted to get one to find out. I doubt in any case that it'll be worth the money some poor punter will likely end up paying for it.

The real ones also don't have a quality control sticker reading "Quslity assuered"
PS. I also complained to ebay about it. I feel sorry for the fools who bid on it in good faith. Perhaps they deserve it, I don't know.
To be fair anyone looking at that and not realising it's fake would probably be happy with any scope for any price.

The fact the seller has left that sticker on it with such bad spelling makes me wonder if they can't read or at least English isn't a first language and they think it makes it look more genuine.

Oh I do think English is their first language... The seller just doesn't care. I sent a polite message about it and attached Zeiss's official response stating that it is counterfeit but this was the response I got.. they are just after the
£££. They know what they are doing and they are trying to use wordplay to get around it and trick people. Are they aware that Carl Zeiss was the founder of Zeiss and is the name of Zeiss I wonder...lol

Wow that is bold.

It's worth buying the cheapest items they have for sale just to leave negative feedback😂

Please excuse the deviation.
Is anybody else having flashbacks to buying the cheaper Carl Zeiss Jena (East German made) binoculars in the 80's. I can't recall if scopes were available.

Definite spelling of ziess rather than zeiss gives it away. eBay are useless and don't even get me started on Facebook.

Had a pair of CZJ roof prisms. A pair of bins less suited to using outside an armchair you couldn’t imagine. Lost count of the number of times I sent them back due to detached/misaligned prisms.

He has changed the title and description twice. From Zeiss to Ziess to Carl Ziess, trying to be clever.. However the item in the photo's shows Zeiss on the scope and box. The figure for the scope is approaching £200 now and it's still not removed, so some poor soul is buying a cheap Asian lemon.

Or knowingly purchasing a counterfeit piece of kit but apparently worth it for the street range cred’ it affords? Kind of like so-called “homage” watches.
