Yet another fake Zeiss on ebay...

Or knowingly purchasing a counterfeit piece of kit but apparently worth it for the street range cred’ it affords? Kind of like so-called “homage” watches.

K
Seems pointless for the money.. you can buy a real Zeiss with it. £175 at the moment and I'm willing to bet it goes for over £200.. there's a real assembled in USA Zeiss Conquest on here for a mere £350..
I do sometimes wonder if some humans are the same species as eachother..

He has changed the title and description twice. From Zeiss to Ziess to Carl Ziess, trying to be clever.. However the item in the photo's shows Zeiss on the scope and box. The figure for the scope is approaching £200 now and it's still not removed, so some poor soul is buying a cheap Asian lemon.

What to do is bid it through the roof and then don’t pay. Rinse and repeat until said seller understands that blatantly selling a counterfeit for top money is going to earn him nothing. I’ve done this before and will do it again just need some other volunteers to create a feeding frenzy of bids.
Anyone else game?

Not being much of an e-bay person, could you bid £350 then refuse to pay him because it's counterfeit ?
No you just make it silly expensive and then not pay. My current bid is 1k. If the seller is knowingly selling fake tat and eBay have done nothing (I’ve reported it) then bid it through the roof and refuse payment as you’ve realised it’s a fake. Like with stolen goods the phrase “too hot to handle” this is make it to hard for the bell to sell.

Nothing to do with ebay. It is a trick advert. It says Carl Zeiss on the product pictures and its a fake. If you come to realize the fraud after your bid no one can force you to pay. A bit stupid to report it as a fake and place a bid anyway though.

The issue with that is, as far as I'm aware, there is still an option for "2nd chance bids/offer"..or atleast there used to be when I sold on there. So the seller then offers the chance to purchase to the 2nd highseat bidder, if anything happens with the original bidder/buyer.

Yeah you’re right, but if theirs enough of us bidding at the top then that should mitigate that.

You’re welcome to call me stupid if you want. I’d rather that, than some poor unsuspecting newbie to the sport that’s heard the brand name but isn’t fully clued up on models available, and lacks gained knowledge to spot that fake doesn’t end up paying through the nose for an at best £40 scope. Thinking that they’ve had a result on a top scope. If eBay doesn’t wish to action on multiple fake reports for the same listing then it direct action.

I‘m not questioning your motives. But you‘re trying to be prosecutor and judge all in one.
What you are currently doing might bite you in the arse some fine day. I hope not, I‘d like to add.

The lister has now added that he is not a Zeiss expert and it is up the person to make their own mind up, as to the scope authenticity before bidding. I have reported it as a fake as well. He knows exactly what he is doing, he has done in the past

As nor did I take the stupid comment personally and should have said in my reply.

Kind regards

I also reported it as fake yesterday. I wonder how many such reports it takes before eBay act (if they ever do).

He knows, as his original reply to direct contact was that this isn’t a Zeiss it’s a Carl Zeiss. And now he isn’t a Zeiss expert🤣

I showed him the email from Zeiss stating it is conterfiet in a polite manner advising him( having shown them photo's of the scope and shared the serial number)
He got the arse and said he didn't care of my opinion but also was selling as a Carl Zeiss...
Even though Zeiss stated it is counterfeit clearly in the email, he says they didn't say it's an Asian copy... maybe he doesn't understand the word counterfiet? 😂
He knows what he's doing completely.

And, not surprisingly, Googling the model number on the barcode '82300155 Zeiss' does not come up with anything.

I wonder why Zeiss seem uninterested in taking action against the eBay scammers?

The real ones also don't have a quality control sticker reading "Quslity assuered"

And if they did, it would have been properly centred!

The misspelled and misaligned 'Quality Assured' sticker is a funny meme on its own.

It's abysmal that they won't do anything about it.

As an aside, I wonder in reality how good they are. Not that I'm tempted to get one to find out. I doubt in any case that it'll be worth the money some poor punter will likely end up paying for it.

My second-hand rifle came with a cheap Chinese scope. It costs around £30 from eBay. It's not a fake, and there's no pretence that it's anything else than what it is. So paying £150-300 for a Chinese scope that says 'Zeiss' on it makes no sense, even if the scope itself turns out to be OK (mine didn't, BTW.... replaced with a Wulf).

It's a bit like a fake Rolex: it might make sense for a tenner, not so much for a grand.... :D
