Hi
anyone have one of these. I've only had mine a week and I thinks its gone faulty. On power up the red led is just flashing constantly and won't boot to the menu. Even when I switch it off, it still continues to flash. I'll get in touch with the supplier tomorrow , even so I'm a bit disappointed if it is faulty after only a week. Thanks

Did you manage to get to the bottom of this. Had one thats been out constantly for a few months now and batteries died. Replaced batteries and is now doing this. Definitely not the batteries as have two of these so have swapped battery trays between them and all is good in the other camera.

I returned it to the supplier, who then sent it back to Zeiss. I received a brand new replacement, took about 2 weeks.

Good evening Folks,

I was about to create a post asking for real world opinions on the Zeiss Secacam 7 and this thread popped up.

Any other info, experiences, opinions to add before I spend some cash on one?

Was looking to buy from Castle Cameras who have them on offer at £229.00 just now.

Cheers all,

Stu

I have the Zeiss Secacam 5 and found if I leave it on all the time it doesn’t give me any issues but if I turn it off to move it ect it takes 2/3 days to come back on properly and reconnect. The picture quality is good on them

We’ve got a 7 as the 5 was out of stock. Estate owner has ordered 4 5s. Will feedback when it’s out covering the release pen.

I have 2 Secacam 7s out all the time. I’m currently watching a badger set and a little owl site, I have some great footage of these plus deer, foxes, hares, buzzards etc have all triggered the camera. I use Amazon basic AA rechargeables and battery life mainly depends on how I have the video recording setup. Once you’re familiar with the app it all becomes a lot easier. I was at the Birdfair Zeiss stand at the weekend and they are putting a lot of development into these cameras and the software. Anything else mate just ask us

So I’ve put the 7 out and no images back. I’d be amazed if nothing has triggered it as the place is alive with fallow and muntjac. I can’t remote control or request a photo either. Perhaps something I’ve not done? Set up a service plan but it also won’t let me add the camera to it? Anyone done this?IMG_3229.webp

I had some issues setting mine up to start with, now works a treat. Drop me a message happy to compare settings and see if something you have missed. Really happy with my be and the images

Looks like you have a service plan but have not added the camera to it. Click on the orange icon, add it, then it should be ok.
*sorry just seen the text at the bottom where you’ve tried to add it.

Many thanks. Look forward to hearing your thoughts and opinions. I hope you managed to get the camera to work correctly after the intial fail?

Thanks indeed for the detail Cypriot and the offer of answering more questions. Have you had the camera long enough to over winter it yet?

A couple of pictures from mine, my one complaint is the batteries don’t give me a low warning the camera goes from enough energy to not working. The last set lasted around two months.

The No warning thing is a pain but the two months is great! Obviously depends on settings and triggers I imagine but compared to what I have been reading about the Hik cameras chewing through batteries I could live with the lack of warning.
Thanks Topscots 🙂

Yea, so I had to delete the camera and read to the service plan.I’ve now got remote control activated but it still won’t send a photo. It seems very awkward to setup compared to the SPYPOINT ones. Not impressed so far. Will have a play with the camera itself tomorrow and make sure all settings seem correct.

Can you request and receive a Control Photo

Managed to get it to do one earlier. Picked us up as we were in the pen, perhaps just nothing had triggered it as it’s along the pen line. After adding to service plan I can now see the remote control and request photo option.

Nice clear images. I like the ability to request a photo whenever I like as well. Once it’s up and running it’s very good.
