ZEISS Secacam 7 trail camera

As long as I leave mine alone it seems to work fine but once I turn it off to move it seems to take a couple of days to get stable and send pictures properly

Server offline error this afternoon and no photos available. Anyone else having this?
Yes, same happened here. I got a notification at 8pm for my control photo then nothing after that.
All back online just now though.

Off the back of all your recommendations I picked up a Secacam 7 on sale. I've found it to be very good so far over the last 3 weeks of being out. Thanks for your joined up advice.

Yep server was offline. Looking into it, images etc are stored on the zeis cloud and drawn down to your app. Good system, but flawed when IT falls over. Love it though, great system and image quality. Estate owner is very impressed as I’ve set him up as a viewer so I don’t need to WhatsApp him photos of deer etc, he can see what we see. No foxes have triggered it which is good!

I've just purchased 2 of the new Secacam 3's. They are not right, something amiss with the battery management and they stop working until you restart them. Their was a automatic software update yesterday so hopefully this is sorted.

That sounds odd. What do you mean battery management?

The red dot of death for secacam 7
My mate bought 3, within a few weeks they all had that fault.
Replacements worked fine.

Zeiss sent a 'fix' where the SD card could be updated, with a warning, power must be maintained during this fix or the camera will be broken for good,....but you can purchase a Zeiss charger to stop this!

“We've been made aware of a new software update for the Secacam 3, that improved the energy management, resulting in a longer battery life for the Secacam.”

From Zeiss.
Ok so it now doesn’t turn on after the update? It seems the 3 is more advanced than the 7s we have!

I have several 7s aswell aswell as the new 3s. I’ve had more problems with the 3s in 2 weeks than I’ve ever had with 7s. Main things are the battery rapidly going flat, like from 50% to 0% in a couple of hours. My last communication shot is at 10pm. Several times this has then locked it from sending anymore images and I’ve had to go to the camera and reset it. Also when I did the remote update, it removed the passcode lock I setup. I only found out when I went to download the files. However I like the 3s, the usb stick download is better, the test shot button is handy, screen is small but makes it easier to see where your looking. Also you can have it where if it’s turned off it will still send an image every 10 minutes whilst the batteries have power. This is to track if it’s stolen. Price is good too, Zeiss have been good when I’ve contacted them. I just wish the extras were not so expensive, the power packs are £70 and solar is £100.

Disappointed to read of these issues as I looked at the good deals on them at the Stalking Show yesterday and was tempted to upgrade my Spypoint 4G ones because of the much better picture quality on the Zeiss. Reading these comments, I’ll stick with what I have as both cameras just work, day after day (solar LTE versions) without any maintenance or interventions - they have been out now for 2 years without being touched. Primary reason for them is to see what’s moving through 2 pieces of ground not for wildlife photography.

My Secacam 3’s are rubbish compared to my Secacam 7’s. They are now just used around the garden, I was having to go out far too much to them when they were remote. Batteries not lasting, signal would drop for days, always had to reset. Not one of Zeiss better items.
