Military surplus question

If I am not wrong I think there are military surplus "jackets" very similar to the Buffalo or Montane Extreme smock. Looked on a few sites yesterday, but couldn't find it back. Can anybody help?

Are the ones made by Country Covers / Fortisclothing similar in quality.

I have one of these issue 'buffalos' and a couple of actual buffalos, they don't compare. The issue one is small and light, great for packing as a later and maybe mid temp. An actual Buffalo is big, bulky but much warmer, I'd say better when wet too as it retains its loft. Depends what you want but I'd probably go with an actual Buffalo.

If you're going for the eBay one the sizing is quite small so go up for instance a lrg/xl would need a xxl but that will be long in the body and arms but not massive on chest or arms internal sizing.

got the Country Covers latest version of their Arktis smock, ripstop washable etc most excellent quality ,good price and any issues send it in and they,l repair or replace:thumb:

Thanks for the answers.

The Country Covers version, indeed , looks very nice and warm. Price is OK, compared to Buffalo or Montane. I'll have a better look.

If you mean the thermal smock then there is an issued version that is similar to the Buffalo but it is fleece lined and so doesn't not compare in terms of warmth. The issue stuff is worth a look but the real Special 6 is still very good and not exactly replicated by anything in the surplus line up that I know of.
