Bullet HEADS !!!!! are BULLETS !!!

I remain puzzled that so many shooting folk seem unaware that the thing that comes out of a rifle barrel when it is fired is exactly the same thing that

was previously atop the brass case before firing & is called, simply, the "bullet".

It forms a component of the loaded "cartridge" ( or complete "round") together with the case, powder & primer. Does anyone call any of these latter parts

the 'bullet tails', 'bullet feet' or whatever?

When zeroing, does anyone ask or check where their 'bullet head holes' appear on the target?

Grumpy rantlet over.

[I must get out (stalking) more].

Check out the Shooting Show coverage of IWA and the RWS spokesman explaining about the new ammo. Just saying...

Harks me back to a chav asking me "Is that a real bullet gun mate"?, Yeah, shoots bullets cocker!

I know the feeling only too well mate. I was out with the .270 one day after deer when a dog walker came along a footpath on my permission. I spotted him from a fair distance away so unloaded and shouldered the gun. When he got to me he stopped for a quick chat and asked "Is that a real bullet gun"?
I was in a mischievous mood so couldn't resist a little sarcasm. My reply was "Well all the deer that I have shot with it seemed to think it is real cos they all fell over, and it wasn't with laughter"!
He walked away looking a little confused!

"Bullet gun" is not that idiotic a description though is it?

Although none of us in the shooting fraternity would use such a phrase, we quite happily refer to shot gun, pellet gun or dart gun as accurate descriptions. Bullet gun seems quite reasonable for centre or rim fire rifles....

Mind you I don't fancy wielding an elephant gun or punt gun in this context! :)

These arguments exist everywhere.

How many have innocently called a rifle a 'gun' in front of an infantryman, and had them go off on one about how 'guns' are what the artillery use...

Up here need to say "heads" to get the guy in RFD shop to realise what your after ....
I say heads.... It doesn't bother me.
Let's face it , if that's all you have to moan about you don't have much coming over you ...
Have a whisky smile ...& forget bout it

Shout out loud, with demonstration movements,

"This is my rifle
This is my gun
This is for shooting
This is for fun"

Surely I'm not the only one!
