Travelling to Namibia with SAA via Johannesburg.

Hi Adrian, so glad you had a great trip. Namibia is so easy isn't it. I will not hunt in S.A. because of all the hassle involved importing firearms. Last time we went to S.A. we paid a guy £70 each to smooth the way that's 2 Springbok in Namibia.
South African Airways are just brilliant handling firearms what a pity our own flagship airline can,t get their act together on this. Shower of s+1t B.A.

Not to hijack the thread but I went Emirates from Scotland to Zimbabwe. Quite a bit of paperwork to be submitted to the airline, but eventually a document comes back with info that, basically, it's ok to fly. Turn up at airport. They don't even look at the gun. Checked all the way through. Take it to outsize luggage, and off it goes. My bullets were separately package, but in my hold luggage - as advised by Emirates.
Arrive in Zim, a guy ( I never found out who, maybe a porter, not a security man) has my gun and suitcase. To customs. I had printed off the Temporary Import Permit in triplicate as requested. Checked serial number. No check of any other paperwork. Stamped and scoot. Piece of cake. No check of bullets.
Back to airport. Advise the chaps that I have a firearm to check in. Customs official arrives. Checks TIP, serial number, counts remaining bullets. OK. Go.
To Emirates desk. Check in gun. Bullets in hold luggage. Fly home to Scotland. Piece of cake.
Maybe, like tusker, give SA a body swerve, but I do want to hunt there again so I'll just have to live with it. It's a while since I've been to Namibia, but I recall it was easy.
Good hunting lads.

Tusker, I will not charge you anything...:D, don't be so negative about SA and GBP70 for a springbok is a darn good price...

Hi Bushwack, I am not negative about S.A. for hunting just the bloody mess at Joberg airport. I have hunted S.A. twice and have had a great time . But prices in Namibia are allot less. £70 would get you 2 Springbok. I will send you a photo of my ram and ask you what it would cost in S.A. Unfortunatly for some reason I cannot upload photos to this forum(don't know why and site staff seem unable to help) so will send to your email.

Me too. I haven't been able to post photos for a few years now because my limit has been reached (whatever that means) so I won't do a write up because without pictures it's not worth it.

Adrian, it is so annoying isn't, I would love to do write up but as you say without photos it is pointless. Perhaps any site staff reading this could help?
