Hi Stratts,
It was a very full day and glad you found it useful,
also like to thank you and Colin(not sure of his sd handle) for your help with the laptop,
as a result of the day and shot site info we had a call from one of the stalkers who attended to help with a fallow pricket he had lost the next day.

all the best Tony

UKDTR held a tracking team selection over the weekend and we are proud to announce that 4 out of 5 dogs and handlers passed there 20 hour old tracking test and handlers attended our development day where they learned about UK law to do with tracking, best practice and shot site training, there was also a small test paper to complete and pass at the end of the day.
Our 20 hour tracking tests where judged by Danish tracking judges and the 3 hour old tests done by two of our experienced committee members,
the 20 hour old candidates also had to identify and recommend the best course of action on a series of shot sites.

As a result we have more full members to cover the England and Wales and a second tracking team in Scotland.

Those who passed there tracking tests

Well done to all concerned, the more people that can help when things don't go to plan the better in my mind.

More members and more areas covered , Deer welfare is paramount and every call out is free of charge and totally confidential.

Looks like it was a great weekend guys, Really sorry I missed it but she who must be obeyed wanted to go on holiday.

Accompanied Neil and Ross (GWP) on a track of a roe kid this afternoon. Not a terribly long track, 200m but none the less worth a look at. With the track 6hrs old Ross's nose was grounded and he made steady progress on a winding track. Good shot site management helped with the track. The shooter had recently attended a shot awareness training event and put theory into practice.

Well done Neil and Ross,
i have followed Ross's progress since he was a pup and must say what a cracking job Neil has done with him,
dere a say he he is probaley the best cold scenting wire I know,
i also know the work Neil has put into him,
And he will only get better with the work he is getting now.
he is a credit to UKDTR and we are very lucky to have him as one of our team.

As part of my commitment to work with other organisations in the UK I booked myself onto the BMHS's level one tracking test last weekend at Shillington forest in Dorset, I have been a member for a few years but never attended any events,
time to put that right, being chairman of one tracking organisation and going cap-in-hand to take a test with another was a bit nerve wracking to say the least, but I was made to feel very welcome by there Chairman, secretary and other judging members, there level one test is 400 meters with two turns and a 3-5 hours old track, there is also a five minute sit and stay for the dog,
it was an easy test for the dog but a bit nevery for the handler,
we got a first diploma and only dropped a few point mostly for talking to the dog to much.
I would just like to thank all the judges and members for there hard work on the day laying tracks and judging on very steep ground.
i am looking forward to compleating level two at some point in the future.

Tony
