Complimentary entry for all BASC members to The Game Fair 2017

The Game Fair -"celebrating its 59th year"?

I thought this GF was one of the many which attempted (this one likely to succeed) to take over from the CLA Gamefair. Even the Shooting Times got in the act with its version.

But is it strictly accurate that this "The Gamefair" is one and the same as the CLA Gamefair, without the CLA?

If not, how do the other "successor" fairs feel about The Gamefair, sequestrating the history of the CLA Gamefair. Surely any of those new fairs which sprang up could make the same claim. Seems disingenuous to me...

I can see your point, but I think the GF's organisers have a fair claim.

The GF has much more in common with its CLA past than any of last year's contenders, including the date, venues, and key members of the organising team; and I think most of those who attended or exhibited this year saw it as a continuation of an established show rather than a new event.

It's a very nice offer and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated by those BASC members who aim to attend. It's a pity that the offer didn't extend to the British shooting show in February though, or even some kind of discount for BASC members attending this show, that would probably have had a far bigger uptake. But that aside it's a nice bonus for those attending the game fair.

Great offer well done basc I will be going this year
there are many events that are too far away from me this one happens to be quite close (about 60 miles) as fair organisers they have to try and look after the whole country with regards to location so there is bound to be some people who can't attend
they cannot please everyone

Great to see BASC's (lack of) support for Scottish members.....
FFS would you like them to have arranged it just down the road from you? You may have noticed that it is a national organisation not just Scottish. The location of the game fair was probably not at the behest of basc.
there are far more people that could attend the show in a more populated part of the U.K. Than in Peebles, therefor making it financially viable. Why not take a trip out of your local area to attend an event? Go on, they don't bite in the south, you could even wear your ginger wig!

The basc are supporting Scottish members as you are just as entitled to free entry as anyone else

The organisers are not the basc so therefore the basc have no say in the show location as this is the choice of those organising it

If you don't like it then put your money where your mouth is and organise a show yourself and offer basc members free entry

I think this offer of free entrance for BASC members has taken them by surprise. It is a welcome bonus too, and will be a big draw. For those who only go to one major GF, getting in for free is excellent, especially the multiple day feature. The pressure is on the other major GFs to offer a similar incentive. Discounts for BASC members were not new, but free entry over each of the days is fantastic.

Similar support at the Scottish Game Fair would be sufficient!

Is the Scottish game fair the same organisers ?, if not then perhaps get in touch with whoever organises it and see if they are willing to lose visitor revenue in order to increase footfall through the door

The free entry for basc members is nothing to do with the basc it is the organisers taking a financial hit in order to increase footfall which keeps the stall holders and traders happy as you are more likely to spend with them when you haven't paid an entry fee

They will make it up next year by charging the traders more and justifying it with massive visitor numbers
