£1000 to spend on a rifle

Advise request

Ive a grand to spend on a rifle, specification requirements listed below. If it was your money and there was little chance of replacing anytime soon (expanding family), what would you buy?

30-06
Synthetic stock
drop box magazine 5 rounds
screw cut
min barrel lth 22" (preferably 24")
new

I bought a s/h Tikka T3 Stainless synthetic as my first centrefire rifle and can't fault it.

You could probably get a new T3 for £1000. Otherwise a second hand Sako 75 would be nice. I'm not sure if you'd find one with a 22" barrel though.

The new Bergara rifles get rave reviews and some say they're better than Remington 700's which they've copied.

If you want to spend less then the Winchester XPR also gets good reviews.

So many choices! Enjoy the deciding.
 
With the larger cals it's unlikely to have an awful lot of rounds through it if it's a sporting rifle so 2nd hand would not be out of the question. That would give you the chance to get a decent rifle, not saying that the £1000 budget new are not good. But you could be looking at a bit more up market rifles.
 
Bergara bolt actions looked good at the IWA show last week the action cycled nice and smooth. Is the 1K including scope and mounts?
 
Cheers for the replies but I'm going to buy a new rifle. My main stalking rifle is a Sako 85S varmint .243 fitted with a synthetic stock but this is now out of my price range, so as I'm in the market for a 30-06 and want a brand new shiny gun, I'd like some real experience of current rifles in the grand range. I'm leaning towards a Sauer 100XT but the afformentioned Beraga definitely looks interesting. Especially the 24" barrel.
 
I believe James Clark (Jager s.a. Tel: 07968 025033) has a new custom built 30-06 for sale. I'm pretty sure it was based on a Tikka 695 action, had a look at it and thought it was very nice. Thought about it briefly but decided I wouldn't get it past my wife! . . . especially as I have one rifle coming and two more still to decide on.

To keep to your speck then a browning xbolt is the way to go. Tikka has a short barrel and only a 3 round mag.

I dont know about Vat at all.

The first rifle @680 GBP`s ,can you advise if ..when all is added up what it would come too?
