Sako carbonlight in .308

Close to ten years ago I visited companies turning T3's in sniper systems. They chose T3 over 75/85. The Canadian Rangers chose the T3 over any Sako also for a reason. The broad customer base chooses T3 over Sako, something like 10:1? Maybe that is more my reasoning. I work on both rifles just about every day of the week.
I don't think there is anything bad about Sako rifles, just for the money you get more, more simplicity and more options with a T3. No a T3 is not perfect, but very useable and of good quality.
By the way we are looking at a product for a 85 as well as several for Remmy, maybe even Blaser although I don't like them at all.

Thanks guys for all of the informative help. Now I have handled both models, I am torn between the Sako 85 carbonlight or the sauer 202 classic xt. Can anyone tell me who has owned a carbonlight for a while how the soft touch coating has held up over time? cheers

I know someone who has a 202 and has had endless problems with scope mounts working loose and has said he wished he had bought a Sako instead.
FC have Sako 85s exclusively now and apparently some of them experienced missfiring with 202s.
I like the 202 until unload time,dark,cold,gloves,fingers in around trigger trying to find the safety button all adds up to a disaster waiting to happen and the Sako can be toploaded.

No you cant topload a 202 or a Tikka,if that matters???

And for unloading,a Sako has a button to allow unloading with safety still on.
Downside of Sako compared to Tikka or Sauer,they are heavier.

I have both Tikka T3 and Sauer 202. Personally, I have never had any problems with the mounts or the safety systems on the Sauer, further, Im baffled how anyone could have issues with the safety. I think it's a great system, as you are putting the safety ON at the rear of the bolt and taking it OFF when your finger is in front of the trigger. It's also silent.
Mounts were expensive but I have recknegel QDs. You wont go wrong with either rifle. If you want to top load, maybe look at something with a floor plate?

When safety is on how do you go about unloading??
what calibre is your 202? This one was ok when the .243 barrel was used but a problem with the .308 or 7x64 barrels due to recoil levels??

I take the safety off to unload. It is the same on the T3, 595, Hyme SR20 and the 202. Ultimately, you shouldn't be relying on the safety, as this NEVER takes over from standard muzzle awareness. I have done so with gloves on and off, it's simple and never had a cause for concern.
My 202 is .270. I have heard that before. It was with aluminium action 202s, with the threads stripping in the receiver. That was my reason for getting a steel action. The instructions say to use a loctite type compound which absorbs the vibration. So far, so good. Think I have had around 50 rounds through it so far and is a tac driver with factory ammo.
