General grabber at3 tyres

Is anyone using the above tyres? If so, what's your opinion of them? I know they're pretty new so I guess a reply on longevity is out but, road noise, wet weather on road performance and have they affected MPG?
I'm not after a full on mud tyre as the majority of my miles are on tarmac, just something a bit better off road than the Wranglers that came standard on the Landy.

Very interested in this. Just looking for new tyres for a RRS. Was in a FFRR at the weekend with standard Grabber AT's and they were very average on wet grass which put me off a bit.

Had them on my outlander for about six months not noticed any difference in mpg you get a varying hum in noise pending on Tarmac, wearing well done around 8000 miles on them still plenty of tread not been stuck yet but then again only dirt tracks and grass fields I'm no off roader having to be a bit picky were I go due to ground clearance of outlander regards SDM

I've got them on my Disco 4, got them maybe a year ago or so. Had the previous ones on a Disco 2. No better or worse than other AT tyres as regards off road performance. The change was to make them a bit better on the road I believe. On the Disco 4 I had road tyres on initially and was worried that the AT's would be noisy, but you've got to try hard to notice any difference. Wet weather performance is good.

Hi I’m running a set on my disco4 commercial, very impressed as do a fair bit off-road for my job,mpg is good and have no complaints on tarmac.

I put a full set on my Hilux on Saturday. Very pleased. After agonising for several weeks as to what to go for, I took the plunge. Immediately the ride feels more comfortable. Less bashing over the speed humps in the village. Took it out in the snow last night and did some steep hills in rear wheel drive only to see if it would manage. It did.
Motorway driving feels somehow as though there's less drag and already the MPG seems to be creeping up slightly. Feels very secure on damp roundabouts too.

Interesting thread. I have been looking at a set for my Grand Cherokee as they offer the size and speed rating I need. The specs seem to tick all the boxes.

Just be aware that there is the AT3 and the AT3 Sport. The difference in price is around £35 per corner. I asked Chas (the tyre guru at JCS) what the difference was. He showed me and there are a couple of incredibly small differences in part of the tread. Its the same pattern but on the Sport (cheaper) there are these tiny little square pips which look like a tread wear indicator. I feared that the carcass would be lighter, thinner and overall just a very low calorie version of the AT3. Not at all. It's a proper tyre with decent side walls - unlike the Bridgestones that I took off which you could practically fold in half.

Have full set on a landcruiser , previously had MTR's noticed straight away how much free'er the vehicle felt and ran , no different tarmac road noise's so pleased with the tyres .

A mate of mine works for AJS Tyres in Reigate and when I came up for a set of all season tyres the AT3 was his top recommendation. The only thing that put me off was on paper. As this was for my wife's daily driver she preferred the lower stated road noise of the Pirelli Scorpio Verde All Season, which we have had before on her previous 4x4. The same friend put me onto the Scorpio Verdes originally.

Not heard a bad word against them in the research I did.

Regards

Mark

I've got AT3's on my Mitsubishi warrior I've had no problem with them, slightly more noise than previous tyres, but much better for driving and less rolling when cornering at speed. Off road had no problems. This weekend we've had deep snow and I've had to cross some steep hills on single track roads with some drifting snow the tyres gripped well no spinning or sliding even felt safe on steep downhill descents.
Regards,
Mike

Hi Chris
There is nothing on the General website about there being two versions of the AT3. Do you have any links you can put up please?
Cheers.

Guys, what a total knob. So sorry, I somehow misread the whole thing and I have been talking about the Cooper Discoverer AT3 Not the Grabber. I really didn't like the look of the Generals. The new AT3 has quite a road biased tread and I bought the Coopers. A thousand apols for getting that mixed up. There's two threads on tyres running at once and I'm tired.

I'm off to find a tree and a piece of rope.

PS Buy the Coopers.

Hi Chris.
No problem mate. I do it all the time. I think its an age thing :-D.

They do not offer the cooper in a H speed rating. The estate I shoot Reds on has a Ford Ranger with Coopers on and he likes them.

Which one do you recommend the Cooper AT3 or the AT3 sport? The sport was £7 pounds more expensive on the 4x4 tyres web site.

I'm sorry what was the question? Nurse where are my pills? Are you my son? Oh dear, it's happened again. I should never have left Yorkshire.
