Vinyl Friday

Some nice stuff on here ... love vinyl & never gave up on it, though for convenience CD's for the car. Vinyl doesn't play well in a moving vehicle :D
Check out my gallery to see my turntable though - had it many many years.

I grew up with my dad listening to the corries. Hasn't listened to any of there songs for years. He had them on at Christmas and I remembered each song word for word. Must admit I love them.

I saw a very similar turntable to that at a degree show at the Royal College or Art many years ago...beautiful.

We have to make do with a Linn Sondek here. If any body wants one for spares or restoration, I rescued my ex-brother-in-law's Sondek from the weather, sadly after some weather damage to the plinth, from my sister's garden a few months after they split up.

Linn Sondeks are very good kit indeed .. much is down to the tone arm & cartridge anyway; after all they are the means of transmission from vinyl to amp. etc.
I posted my pics simply because this stuff is now considered ‘vintage’ (designed in the 1960’s) and it’s not so long ago that vinyl was thought vintage & doomed.
Brilliant that it’s made a strong comeback.

Haven't listened to Dave Qualey for some time...anything off his "only guitar" album is burned deep though. Bought the disc from him after his appearance at the Redditch Folk Club in the mid seventies. Drove there in my brother in laws' Healey 3000 mk lll which I had on loan for the drought year of 1976. Could just afford the fuel and the bottle of Guinness for the evening...not really the album, but needs must.

Loved the film seen it many light night viewings! I still have the cd in the car, along with Rod Stewart unplugged, Graceland, Atom Heart Mother and Rory Gallagher's Blueprint. I saw Hazel live a few years ago, still creating.

I found this version with the live performance and extended sax solo when I was looking for the original below, nice to see the real Wesley Magoogan at work.

Original soundtrack version which has the slightly punchier/familiar saxophone solo.

Another album on the auto changer with the arm back so it just started from the beginning again....who's a little pimp with their hair slicked back?

He does have "something of the night about him" but that's no way to talk about Conservative MP, Jacob Rees-Mogg!

As I recall this was/is Zappa's best selling album in the UK and not suprisingly given its very big on melodies and resists the great man's ever-present propensity for theatre and politics. No disrespect to Frank but as I once said to Roy Harper "there are times when I really do wish you would shut the f.... up and PLAY!

Continuing the snow theme as we're surrounded by it today & the shoot's been cancelled.

Added: the previous post with the snow reference that I was responding to has been removed....

It hit the spot and then some in 1972 and still does today IMHO:

A gem from one of those “75p” Bargain Bins back in the day:

And another from the women you would have heard a great deal more about if she hadn’t turned her back on Bowie’s label (which I’m not suggesting was a bad thing!):

I was privilege to be given tickets to see Gun's n Roses playing in a temporary stadium in the desert in Dubai last March (big birthday) - one of the best experiences in my life
