Tikka T1X

.22lr 16" T1x's are starting to ship this week, noticed stock appearing in Scotland and popped an email(Dealer & GMK) to chase my order and voila, I should be collecting my pre-order from Feb/April tomorrow.

Just picked up my 16" .22lr an hour ago. It has been sitting in the shop since Wednesday.
I noticed the magazine seems to stick out a bit more than on the 17hmr, but other than that its identical.

Markfox, Halesowen with two Tikka's with 22" barrels we could cover all sides of the town...........ill take the Clent end.

You haven't shot it yet????? Heavens!~Muir

Does this mean the UK has them before the American market? If so I am pleasantly surprised.
There are no 17HMR's in the US so it would follow suit. Additionally, as far as I have been told, only the 20" version will be sent to the US initially. I certainly wasn't given any other option, at least.

I do have the small compensatory pleasure of having saved $50. IT seems the list price has gone up over the last year. Since I paid for mine already.....well...~Muir

Hi Muir
Living in Montana you have plenty of compensatory pleasures to make up for it :-D.

Sunday Morning Range Report.

Nice cool morning with little to no wind, I took my T1x .22lr 16" out to zero and test.

Had 5 different rounds to test, Starting with RWS 40gr Subs, Norma 40gr Subs, Eley Match and Tenex 40gr and finishing with Winchester 42gr subs.

Very impressed with the new Norma subsonic ammunition, initially thought it was re-branded RWS but testing proved otherwise.

The rifle itself, no hiccups and feels very nice to shoot, I set the trigger a little lighter than factory as you would with the T3 line of rifles, which broke just the same(i.e. like glass).

No failure to feed/eject issues, little sticky on feeding the 42gr Winchester but that's a common story with them in CZ too and they shot great.

Below is some 10 shot grouping images @ 50Y, the shooting bench(My car) I admit wasn't the best platform but I'm not a club member and this rifle will be my squirrel gun, still managed to maintain acceptable groups.

Unfortunately the Eley Match and RWS groups merged due to POI differences, the RWS group was not that great however the Match was, I didn't get around to shooting another group with them.

The moderator was the A-Tec wave, and performed good in this setup.

All in all I'm happy with the results.

Looks pretty good for a first run out, it will only get better.

just out of curiosity , what's the weight like?

Nicely balanced in my opinion, I originally wanted 20" but the opportunity came up and under hand it felt great. it feels more adept for freehand shooting that other full-bore rifles, which is useful for the purpose I acquired it for.

I have a CZ 455 American 16" in same calibre to compare, its different, almost more compact and solid in hand.
