Wow how did I miss this that is indeed a cheap deal.

£1200 for 6 days with no trophy fees

Compared to the SD week where it would cost £870 just for the 6 days and then if you got lucky and got a good stag each day an extra £1800 in trophy fees

If you get any cancelations again drop me a pm

And if you get real lucky and shoot 27 trophies every day, you save a total off £48,600! Bargain eh?!

Do you expect to get on a forest or hill stag every time you go out???

Would be nice ofcourse but does it happen in the real world???...

Does everybody attending the SD week get up at 545 every morning and take all the available stalks?? turning out for every evening in the pooring rain??

Most people on the SD week i have met, have chosen to make the long journey with an open mind and a good heart, choosing to advance their circle of friends they have made through the site whilst enjoying some amazing opportunities for stalking on the Scottish hills and forests. The evening meals, drinks and stories ensuring we walk away with life long friends and memories..

Wonder if there are any real intentions of taking a cancellation up or just another load of hot air and a pop for the sake of it...

Youve seen the results of the SD week which are there for all those with half empty pints to take a pop at

Hope to meet those with half full pints in years to come, its a great week and i have yet to read a post of someone that feels they have come away disappointed

ha all im going to say is look for our pics later this month

solway

Ha,
whats that all about..

all im going to say is didnt realise school kids used the site with a, ours is bigger ,better than yours attitude...

Quite pathetic and unwelcome on a forum where most people go out of their way to help each other.

Didnt realise the need or necesity for competition in the size stakes..

Nine good stags, good for you.. Im pleased your clients all had a good time and am a bit puzzled as to why the pictures and write ups arent making good reading in the articles and write up section..

Hi Terry
Don't know about childish just not used to this hiding behind a computer and posting stuff, if your ever up this way give me a pm and we can meet up, you can air your views then, and I will show some good red ground too.
Cheers

Do you expect to get on a forest or hill stag every time you go out???

If I was paying the best part of £1000 a week I would expect the oportunity to shoot at least 1 good stag a day, and 1 or more spikers or youngsters

Would be nice ofcourse but does it happen in the real world???...

Yes it does happen in the real world

I was helping out on an estate the other week the guest shot 11 stags of mixed quality in 4 days this is a typical week on that estate.

Me and my friend who were taking most of the cull stags had 27 between us in 5 days

Not bad going eh 38 red stags to 3 rifles in less than a week best day was Tuesday the guest shot his trophy and I then flattened 5 before they had a chance to stand up It took 2 trips with the Argo to get them all back

Does everybody attending the SD week get up at 545 every morning and take all the available stalks?? turning out for every evening in the pooring rain??

If I was going away for a weeks stalking then yes I would be out from first light to last light every day come rain or shine in the real world there are people who are not just fair weather stalkers

I will say again £200 for a day on the Stags with no trophy fees is a bargain

Many estates it is £350 - 400 a day for cull stags

and the going rate for hinds is around £150 a day

I've booked 3 days on the stags next year for £400 all in. No cull fees etc. And the estate is hanging with reds. My mate bagged what we believe will make a gold medal here just a few weeks ago on the same deal. So I'm glad I sealed the deal when it arose. Reading this thread I pity Long shot who believes £350 per day is some kind of great deal. It certainly pays to shop around and make the most of yor contacts. But this all comes with experience, as we all know. Eh Pete? :-D

It's bad form to knock the SD opportunity on the forum though. Has anyone ever thought who and what funds the forum that we all make use of? Time to grow up and show a little decorum for some I think.

The SD trip looks great, for a whole range of reasons. It's definately something I'd do if I could find the time.

Best
MJ

Sweep, sounds like you had a cracking time. Would love to see some pics of all these stags.

Cheers bud no probs with meeting up..

If stalking were advertised for free in this section some smart arse could get you a bigger head and more deer in the larder cheaper

Likewise if your ever coming near Poole drop me a PM

I travelled to West Scotland last year before joining the lads for the SD week

I was taken out by Ian on the Achadunan Estate and had a great time and a great 10 pointer..

Which was followed by another 10 pointer whilst out with Jingzy on Heart Break Ridge on the SD week

Sweep,

you seem very keen to belittle the efforts made by the SD folk who try to help out others with cheap stalking. It appears from your input to this thread that your enjoyment from stalking is proportional to a head count at the end of the week. Solway stalker stated that the vast majority of his clients are repeat customers and he has no real need to advertise, it just so happens this year he has cancellations. I am pretty sure that these repeat clients go year after year because of the overall experience they have, not because of the quantity of deer taken or after doing a price comparison. Which is exactly how it is with the people who attend the SD week, they are not clients in the true sense of the word, they are recreational stalkers looking for something a bit different. I bet that if you asked any one of the people who been on one of these weeks not one of them would think the pricing excessive, in fact many will tell you that they actually pay far less than they expected for the stalking they did and the deer taken, plus witnessed stalks are available free of charge. I think you will find that the charges made are done at cost, and if you know a cheaper way to do it, well, you are on to a winner

You must remember that not everyone is as fortunate as you with what appears to be free stalking, for the cull animals, with almost limitless deer numbers. Others are very grateful for opportunities that to them are presented at a very fair price.

John

Hi,

Having spent a week with John and Malc on their ground i for one will say this,

A fairer pair of lads you will not ever meet... I just shot three stags over four days and came home with money in my pocket.
A massive thanks to you both and i for one would jump at an offer of a return trip.

atb f.

I’ll second that all the way. I was also on the SD week and can vouch for the value for money and quality of the sport. All the guys involved worked extremely hard to put us in contact with the deer the choice of whether to take a six pointer or a spiker was left up to us. My intention initially was to only go for Knobbers and spikers, in fact I turned down a six pointer on my first outing, but by the end of the week I had shot both a six point sika stag and an eight point sika stag and it didn’t cost me a fortune, in fact I couldn’t think of anywhere you could get a better offer than Malc and JayB provided. I am still recovering from the eleven hour drive home but would certainly jump at such an offer if it arose again.

John,

I was trying to deffend Solwaystalker and his pricing it was wadershot who was having a go about the pricing of a day.

£200 a day on the stags and no trophy feees is a bargin I think is bad form to have a pop at Solway who is a paying advertiser espiecially when this offer is around half of the going rate.

Unless of course because waders is in the click it is ok for him most people would of had a warning of a possible :ban:for interfering and questioning the pricing of a paying advertisers offer of stalking.

I was only trying to show the doubters that in the scheme of things this offer was a good one.

The price of the SD week is ok dont get me wrong it was not a pop at the SD week that was intended but trying to shut up waders and MJ75 who clearly cannot see a bargain when it is offered

I think if I read it correctly that the query raised was if or not it would be better to have a low stalking fee and then a trophy fee if contact was made. As opposed to £200 a stalk, not a day as you keep saying. I don't think Wadashot was having a go, he was just questioning the pricing policy which happens all the time on here.

I also resent your in the clique remark, as people often do and no doubt will continue to question prices it tends to keep unscrupulous people at bay which is why we seem to only get fair and honest deals offered. Debate strong or otherwise is never penalised on here, it is only the way it is conducted and the choice of vocabulary that incurs penalties. I saw nothing in the exchanges to which you refer that were insulting or deliberately offensive.

John

You're wrong Sweep. I can see a bargain. The SD week looks good value to me. The stalking offered by JAYB in the classifieds offers immense value, and anyone who wants a day or two on the hinds would be well advised to take a look. It really is cheap.

I'm not saying that Solways stalking is bad value for money, If you shoot a royal on an outing with him then everyone would see it as amazing value. I just don't believe it's the bargain that you do, when compared to the SD week.

And think about this for a minute, imagine someone who fancies a go at stalking. Has no mates who shoot and has no clue who to turn too. He googles "deer hunting" finds this site and then has the opportunity to go out with AW's. There is also discounted stalking available to forum members who may not have stalking available. Or they may be on a budget etc, so find me another site that offers an opportunity like that eh!So to knock this site, that you use and don't pay for is a bit below the belt. If it were mine you'd have been banned by now. As I don't have the patience and tolerance of others. :D

As I said to CSL once upon a time, it's very easy to stop discussions in the classified threads offered by advertisers. You configure a sub forum so that the advertisers can "manage" their own threads and add an additional "classified chat" sub forum where adverts can be discussed if need be. To aid stopping derailing of threads you introduce new rules that are punishable by infractions and temporary bans to stop members abusing it. I still reckon it's the way forward. Simples.:)
