Easy duracote/cerakote test -
If you apply a small amount of nitromors to a discreet area or already damaged area of the coating area, one will be affected the other won't.
Just make sure when you pay for Cerakote you get it , unlike what I got ? cheap Duracoat its peeling off and chips Cerakote won't or should not another fine job by JC
I had awful trouble removing rubbery cheap Ceracoat off a stock to replace with good DuraCoat on a stock a while back. We only use DuraCoat, not the only ones who went away from Ceracoat.

What I mentioned was something gone wrong with the single pack ceracoat. Ceracoat and DuraCoat have their strong points. Both must be applied properly. We use only DuraCoat also on metal and I am very happy with it. I have one or two barrelled actions with Ceracoat which also work. No surface coating will withstand a whack of a rock in the hills so all my rifles have the odd scratch. Never noticed one brand being better than the other.
We oven cure DuraCoat also.
DuraCoat tactical range is more grippy than the normal, however it gets smoother with use.

Embrace the patina of your well used rifle. It's a badge of honour and looks good than some artificial sprucing up. Paint on wood stocks is bad taste and any coating or rebluing will never have the durability of the original blue.
I'm happy to buy a well warn 1957 BRNO, paint it or ceracoat it and I, and many others would run a mile.
Another honourable mention for Dave Wylde at Valkyrie Rifles.
He has done a number of my rifles now, and despite the drive involved, I wouldn’t go anywhere else
