Introducing Peregrine Monolithics to the UK.

A smart idea, can you tell me if crimping is affected in any way and if larger calibres are due out such as .416

Come on, lads. This is not about the cost of a bullet per deer. And you know that.
I shoot about 1,000 rounds per year of which only about 20 are spent on deer. The rest goes down the range.
So I do appreciate cost concerns when it comes to the price of bullets. Though personally I have stopped thinking about it. Monolythics can be so much better than lead cup bullets!
But banned at bisley

Are you going to import the VLR5 at all? Supposed to have same POI as the VLR4 with same load,COL so would be a cheaper method of load development etc.

We will be bringing in any and all of them
Initially our wet finger in the air approach to types and sizes that will sell
Load development we intent to produce factory ammo so you wont need to waste a box

Ed these look really good and I'm tempted.

Looking at Peregrine's site it looks like for 243 at 95 and 100gr as well as 25-06 100gr and 7x57 130gr and 150gr that RL 17 would be one powder for all. Which is a faster burn that I'd use now.

Wondering if that is the case (faster powder over cup and core) generally for mono's?

All new to me.

Wouldn’t mind trying the bushmaster when they’re available in 7mm and/or 30cal

Should these be used in light for calibre and loaded hot like other mono’s?

Hi All,

I would recommend you try these, have just returned from South Africa and have used them in 308w 165g and 8mm 180g. I will check with my husband if he has used them on fallow here. They did a great job, literally did what it said on the tin, we will get some more.

Best Regards

RL17 would work in all of those yes
I would have to check but you won't get a 100gr .243 bullet to work in a factory .243

The info on the Peregrine site is old and somewhat contradictory, powder they use is not generally available in the UK, bullets appear to be different but same name used and data missing for some bullets. So don't rely upon them for load development

Recon we will soon have small Chinese cnc lathes turning our own creations, so much easier just buying some copper rods. We can all make the bullet of our dreams then. … and the bullet industry who like the extra earnings of solids might just have shot themselves in the foot. Copper that is used for spark erosion works well I was told by a guy who makes his own.

Can you do a quick load guide for .308W with N135 please?

Alan

Here you go. Obviously a lot of assumptions used so be careful with the data and watch for pressure signs etc. Interestingly the Peregrine load data is with Somchem 335 which looks (from their chart) to be between N133 and N130 ....quite quick for a 308

Thank you for that... Reassuringly in line with the 2900+ fps with 2.96g (45.68g) and 3.02g (46.6gr) loads I use for Fox and Barnes 130gr as one would expect.

My barrel muzzle to bolt face is 560mm (22").

Is the seating depth and cartridge length generated by the QL data base? The Peregrine reloading data only showed 132gr bullets with a 9.3mm seating depth rather than the 136gr that are available from Ed?

I noticed the burning chart position, they are quick powders for .308W...I used N130 for 110gr V_MAX until my best load gave me a notchy bolt after a few trouble free groups and I was put off! N135 seemed less spikey on another QL run.

Quick Load is the only draw back in 30 odd years with a Mac for me! I either have to buy and dedicate a Windows/PC machine or an emulation programme plus a copy of Windows...either way it trebles the cost of QL.

Thank you again.

Alan
