T3 why do folk like them?

If they listened it would make their apparently good rifle into a really good rifle. It only takes one man have to have a good idea

So what are you going to say to the Sako man? That your boss gave you a rifle you don't like? He might tell you to buy a Sako 85 that has all the features you want. Or is that also not good enough for you? Sako has huge problems keeping up production because the T3 is so popular world wide, also with professional users why do you want to ruin them? They also have rifles with drop plate mag systems, have it all. Why are you blaming them for your boss's decision?
I have Sako, Tikka, Remmies, Mauser, Howa rifles and changed them all to magazines. Can run 5 shot or ten shot mags, nice to hold a rifle at the mag which is just in the COG of the rifle. Drop plate makes no sense to me.

What forces in the U.K. out of interest? I know some of the French police use them but the only bolt action rifles I’ve seen used in Scotland (well the north east anyway) are AI and prior to that were Parker Hale’s although I think Lothian and Borders possibly did use 595’s.

I am the same as @ejg, all the Howas are being converted to 6 or 10 shot magazines, which is the same as my Tikkas. A 3 or 5 shot magazine isn’t enough and its a pain in the arse to have to top load in a hurry.

I will tell them all the faults with their T3, surely if there are improvements that could be made to make their rifle better they would want to know. Maybe they are blinded by the T3 success and are failing to see beyond what they have. Why settle for it’s ok, I’ll bet you don’t with your stocks.

I have said I don’t like sticky out mags, they spoil the lines of a rifle. My dislike of single stack mags is you can’t top load, double stack mags like Sako offer are fine, they don’t stick out and you can top load them. I prefer a hinged floor plate but happy enough to work with a mag that is top loadable.

I’m not blaming anyone for my organisations decision, your reading things that aren’t there

Ranger22, I've been using T3's both privately and professionally since 2008. T3 why do I like them? Guaranteed accuracy, robust and relatively cheap to buy. Are they perfect? No, I have had to return one for repair in 12 years and they have all of the handling idiosyncrasies which you have highlighted. However, as a tool they do their job provided I do mine. Have the idiosyncrasy cost me beasts off my cull? I don't think so. Subconsciously I believe that the handling idiosyncrasies may make my weapon handling safer. They are not perfect, but neither am I.

Actually your wrong, if Tikka listened to the minority, me, and built a rifle round what I have said. It would be a cracker, would suit professionals and recreational hunters down to the ground.
But this wouldn’t suit custom rifle builders, gun shops, stock makers would it, as their market would get smaller

That’s very true but the thread is about the T3 that people love and Tikka claim it performs in every situation. It doesn’t it has failings

Both my Remingtons have shoot as well as a Tikka. The T3 is far from perfect, so there!

The T3 hasn’t cost me any beasts either, it’s the all the faff that goes with it that is frustrating. Little changes by Tikka would make a decent rifle.

Your original post as valid, and as a new guy to shooting, I listened with interest to a proffessional input to the rifle and its faults, however now you are sounding a bit ....................meh.
