Tikka T3X bolt stop adjustment (308 longer mag)

I was going to upgrade my Tikka plastic mag (extended COL) to an aluminium Walters Rifleman (as I know the lips on the plastic ones wear out and mine has seen a bit of action) but the long WR mag requires bolt stop adjustment. A couple of questions before I plough on with this option

1. Assuming it's simple job of popping the old one out, filing back a suitable amount of metal and refitting or is it worth a tenner buying a medium size one of these? With it being a simple "stop" I can't imaging surface finish is critical but don't want to bugger up the original for the sake of a tenner!

2. Any issues using shorter mags if I extend the bolt stop? I can't imagine there will be - it's 308 so not a tricky round to get to feed but wanted to double check!

You planning a mass cull - I'd hate to shift any more than 2 of your beasts 🤦‍♂️

4 isn't uncommon but beyond that gets a bit silly due to the fun extractions on some of my ground (as you know)

I don't need the 10 shot WR magazine, 6 is fine. By "long" I meant long COL not long capacity... It's more about replacing the crappy plastic one with a more durable option.

The WR bolt stops are polymer

They will wear and eventually break with “enthusiastic” cycling

Better with the genuine article - when you buy a T3 bolt stop you get both long and short action plus springs in the packet - plus the new pin

The new stops also have a slotted hole that transfers cycling force onto the stop and action rather than the retaining pin

Buy the genuine article

Amazing - thanks @Ronin

I just looked at an Atlasworks stainless long action kit which states the newer style stops with slotted hole can't be filled back and, as the rifle isn't that old, likely rules that option out for me. So new LA bolt stop kit it is!
