What gun safe

Morning chaps,

Now my variation has been accepted for a .308, I need to make some room for it! I currently have two cabinets one Bratton sound 5 gun rifle deep including ammo lock up an one twin shotgun cabinet. The 5 rifle currently houses my .243 and Daystate air ranger FAC. The airgun is a bloody nuisance in the cabinet because it’s so deep and takes up most of the room as it has to go side wards, even though the safe is a ‘deep’ rifle cabinet. The shotgun cabinet has two 12s and a .410. My thinking is getting rid of a the shotgun and replacing with another 5gun rifle plus ammo lock up. The airgun can go flat across the back and the 3 shotguns laying over the top of it. This will give me ample room in the existing cabinet.

My question is; what other manufacturers would you recommend other than bratton sound if any?

Thanks

There is/was a company called DJS products which made decent cabinets at a reasonable price - I've just googled them and their site says 'website closed' on it. Not sure whether they're still trading or not but I have sent them a message to ask.
All comes down to budget I suppose, there are fancy ones like the Lokaway ones, or cheaper ones! Brattonsound always seems to be well regarded though.

Or you can really try and pack them in - I've got 3 scoped rifles and 3 shotguns in a standard 5 gun cabinet... Not something I recommend and I'll be watching this thread with interest!
Always worth giving your local gun shop a ring though, the ones round here often have secondhand cabinets in stock.

I like my one, it's a Lokaway and the door is so smooth it's lovely. The FEO was impressed with it too as the door slides into the frame and so there is no way to get a crowbar in the door. But it's incredibly heavy it was painful getting it up the stairs!

So a few points firstly DJS products avoid avoid avoid. Secondly if the safe says five gun deep etc read that as just about 3 ish with scopes.

I have a trophy cabinet. They make the browning ones but are about 40% cheaper. It’s a 16 gun cab and currently houses 9 at a pinch. So always always get much bigger than you need as you definitely need it

I have 2 the INFAC SAFE, im sure it said it holds 8-10 guns but holds 5 rifles, slightly deeper than my other which is the Bratton sound 7 gun with locking top.
Hve a look at the INFAC safe, not bad for the money.

Why avoid DJS. I am not 100% but I am fairly sure they supplied mine. It was a few years ago but it seems good to me. Apart from the usual afvertising as 6-8 guns when it has 4 rifles and shotgun in there and it is a job to get them in and out without beating them on each other. Typical muscial guns that most of us probably play, especially when trying to access a gun that is used the least (as it sits in the corner feeling lonely)

Anyhow, back to the cabinet. I have the vault type with just one key that operates those vault type bolts all the way along the door liner rather than having two keys which seemed annoying to me. It has a lock box up top which as most, would be easy to smash in to if you had got access through the main door.

Mine is opened and closed a few times a week and the lock is perfect. Nothing has failed. It is very very heavy and seems well built. I cannot recall what I paid for it but I don't remember it being excessively expensive relative to the usual players.

Is there something about these products that is bad or are you talking about service etc?

Cheers

Had this discussion with a friend the other day as i too am looking for another cabinet, currently have 7 in a 5 🤦🏼‍♂️ He had a infac one and loves it, its what i would go for also but it wont fit under my stairs... currently thinking who needs stairs anyway🤷🏼‍♂️

Those Browning cabinets are pricey, eh!? I guess you get what you pay for...

I've got two - a Brattonsound and fairly sure a DJS. The Brattonsound is the single key vault type and is fine, although the ammo section is a bit fiddly to get into as the door is so thick. The DJS one is a more basic design with two locks (was cheaper than brattonsound) - works fine and never had a problem with it. Ultimately I'd like to move to a single large cabinet though - having 2 means you lose quite a bit of space and a single large one is a more efficient use of space.

That has just gave me an idea! I have recently cleaned out under my stairs and could easily fit a cabinet in there also !nice one!

Chaps thank you all for your replies it is much appreciated , Ive had a hankering for a lee Enfield smle for a while now also so may need a stable for that to!

Definitely agree about getting bigger than you think you need.

I started out with a three gun, then got another three gun and now I'm giving serious thought to selling those to just get one the big old Buffalo River or Liberty safes instead.
