AYA Model 25?

Help Wanted - I am trying to sell a shotgun for a recently deceased friend. From what I can gather, I think it’s an AYA Model 25. Could anyone tell me if it is this model. Also how much do they value up at?

Thanks in advance

Price wise guntrader will be your best guide. Sidelock 25’s are starting at £950 so depending on condition somewhere around there would be logical

Had one very similar valued at £850 with a lovely Jeffery’s leather Cary case.. I was very fond of it as it was my grandads..... needed some room on the cabinet for a new rifle sold it for £495 you may get 900£ for it but you’ll have to wait sbs sales are pretty much non existent and My rfd won’t even take one for part ex 👍😳

Max £2500 to someone who wants it if it's a sleeper with good figured oiled wood, many variants but as you know the condition is everything so a plain jane sidelock £1000, but within the trade £700 - I like em and have a 20 and 16 as a pair
P.S. Probate value £600

Looks like a #25
Barrel length is one thing but there are a few 25” No.2s out there
The raised Churchill style rib is the giveaway

I have one for sale that is mint at £850 that won’t sell
Anyone who says SxS sales are slow isn’t working hard enough.
They still sell

What is not selling as well is short barrelled side by sides.
I also have two Churchill’s which are stunning
Will be a while for them to go also I suspect.

Personally I dont get the long barrel fetish
Short barrels are a dream to carry and hit just as hard
My Father shot everything with a #25 from geese to high pheasants and everything in between.

fair point mine did have 25” or 26” barrels
🙃

The in thing as far as shotguns go is to have an over and under with 3" chambers and at least 28" barrels. The idea being that it's more versatile in that you can use it for high birds, walked up and driven days and wildfowl. I have to admit that I have such a gun and it's my go to gun. But I also have a side by side sidelock. It's a lowly Silver Kestrel. Even so, it looks good and is ideal for occasions where there's more walking than shooting. Much lighter than the O/U, although it's better to use lighter loads as of course the recoil is felt a bit more (but unless you are shooting birds by the dozen, that doesn't really matter). Oh, and you have to re-educate yourself that there's two triggers.

I've not really got anything more to add about the AYA 25, other than the ones I've seen have all looked the part and performed well. If you've got the time and inclination, you could perhaps try your luck on Guntrader. But I understand Edinburgh Rifles post in that any RFD will be wary that buying one in will simply be tying up money for some time. You could always just put it in the classified section on here too and if you are in a shooting syndicate (fur or feather) spread the word, you never know.

It's such a shame the short barreled side by sides are out of fashion, perfect for walked up shooting. No need for heavy loads and tight chokes and lugging about long barreled guns that are ill balanced in the crook of your arm.
As for double triggers, I actually like having the option of which barrel to fire without faffing with a selector switch (never works that, hence my O/U guns have same choke in both barrels).

I had one for 10years. It kicked like a mule with even the lightest loads.
Now, it's funny you say that. I have a 26" #2, lovely to shoot as long as you stick to sensible cartridges (NOT RC Sipe Extreme 32g...never again in that gun). My father was offered and subsequently bought and almost as new identical 26" #2, and it was a kicky bugger. Only difference is mine has a Silvers pad fitted to suit me.
Side by sides are generally more kicky, and seem to benefit more from correct gunfit.

My local gunship the same not interested in SxS I bought an AYA no 4 for £110 a while back and a Beretta SxS for £60 just not a lot of interest in SxS at the moment.
