7x65R - any thoughts please

Sounds nice Adamant! But what experiences do you have with the S&B SPCE bullet? I´ve heard some people think it´s to soft for boar and moose - especially with the high velocities that you get in 7x65R (around 750-800 m/s), and for that reason I´d like to try the RWS TMR.

As Southern mentioned, one way to go is to set the scope for only one barrel and use the double gun as a single rifle when it comes to longer distances. But for me, 80-100 m is not a long distance and I´d like to find a load that works fine up to at least 100 m (i.e. groupings around 10 cm). I´m also a bit confused with the fact that several of my loads shows quite a big difference horizontally, not only vertically as is expected with a o/u.

I haven't used it on moose - lack of opportunity rather than choice - but it seems to work just fine on boar out to 150 yards.

I couldn't get 175gn Nosler Partitions to group at all, no matter how hard I tweaked the loads with different powders and charges. The next bullets to try are 175gn Hornady RN Interlocks - in standard SP form these are my go-to bullet for almost any quarry in my .270, .300WM and 7mmRM rifles, so I'm expecting good things in the 7x65R too.

Whilst RWS factory ammunition can be sourced, RWS bullet are not easily available here in the UK, so I've not tried the TMRs. I've tended to stick to the heavier bullets as the gun is meant primarily for boar.

Same here about nosler partition 175 gr - woorks great in my single shot Merkel but is just a disaster in the double rifle, as is the woodleigh pp 175 gr (sad beacuse both are great bullets). My guess is that perhaps RN bullets with lower BC are better suited to match the regulation of my double, since the S&B 173 gr shows better groupings. However, I just ordered the RWS TMR 173 gr (not easy to get in Sweden either, but found one company that have it for quite high price) and look forward to try it. The Hornady 175 gr RN is probably very similar to the RWS TMR but is not available right now. I agree with you about using heavier bullets for big game, but if possible, I prefer premium bullets for this when using my 7 mm caliber rifles.

Greetings to the honorable community!
I became the owner of the Blaser K95 in 7x65R and a kit for reloading recently.
Please do not consider it hard, tell me which load will be the most accurate?
There is Nosler Accubond 160 Grains, S&B cases, RWS primers and Vihtavuori 550.
Many thanks!

I would strongly advise against using S&B brass, it’s of very poor quality and prone to head separations. I would advise getting RWS brass.

Ok. Yhank you. I've got RWS cases too. Do you have any accurate recipe? Could you, please, share it?
Kind regards, Peter.

Greetings! I am very interested in this thread as I will be taking possession of a K95 in 7x65R in the next few months. I am wanting to load 160g Accubond but am trying to find some good advice on what powder to use. It needs to be reach compliant as I am in the UK. Best regards, Andy.

No-one can tell you what will be the most accurate in your rifle (nice choice, by the way!), you'll have to find out yourself I'm afraid! However for what it's worth, I use N550 to reload for my Simson drilling in 7x65R. 49.1gr of N550 with a 150gr flat-bottomed, bonded hollowpoint bullet. I have a comparatively long barrel though at 60cm which helps. Good luck!
