Winchester Super X .22wmr split cases?

Folks,

Just been talking to my local gunshop about ammo for my Krico b/a .22wmr, which I've been feeding up to now with Winchester Super X 40gr.

He told me they don't stock Winchester ammo any more as they're had several instances of cases splitting on customers, especially in .17, but not only. He said on one occasion all the ammo in the mag blew up.

Has anyone experienced or heard of cases splitting with Win ammo, or do you know if it's especially prone to this?

If so I'll be swapping brand pronto.

Thanks

I shoot wmr and never experienced what you say.
Muir touched on using inferior brass in the 17 rimfires (probably due to cutting back on the copper content) .
I'm new to HMR and although fired rounds are sometimes split some I've not see any unfired split like there was a few years ago.

On a side not I did recently have some 22 split on me too!
I wonder if some are really cutting back on the brass quality!

I don't think Winchester makes any of their own 22WMR anymore. I don't think they ever did more than assemble HMR from components but I could be wrong. I've never had a 22WMR "blow up" but I can tell you that I have had nothing but problems with some CF cases. Had some 300 WM that had rumpled necks. (think twist off soda bottle caps of the 70's) and I recently had a Hornet case split from shoulder to web. Confidence is not high.~Muir
