Looking to get a 2nd 243 rifle for night vision and wondering what peoples experience is with a howa 1500? Many thanks

Got a 223. Cracking gun. Shot decent with the flexy hogue stock, bought a bell & Carlson & now it's even better.

I have two in 223. (One custom) and had one in 30-06 and 270. All shoot really well but my 223's get the ejector pin stuck and the cases fall off the extractor while cycling the bolt. My only complaint. ~Muir

Are yours the short or mini action variant?

I've got one in .243 bedded into a Boyd's laminate stock, shoots sub half inch groups all day if I do my bit, I would have another definitely 👍

I have a stainless one with a Houge stock and a Pard 008LRF, shoot it 3-4 times a week in all weathers and hasnt let me down yet.

People don't rate the Houge stock as the forend is a little flexible and if you give it some effort the forend will touch the barrel, screwing with your point of impact. As the stock is essentially worthless, I scraped out the rubber at the forend in the barrel cavity to increase the gap between the stock and the barrel. No need to shell out on an expensive stock alternatives if you don't want one!

Personally I rate the houge stock and the rifle as a whole. I like the overmoulded stock, beavertail forend, accuracy and the price! Make the modification to the stock as above to give you piece of mind.

I'd say it's a really good tool which does the job perfectly. Very functional.

I’ve got a howa 243 in a lightning 2 stock, just as accurate as my tikka t3x supper varmint and a lot cheaper
