What’s the WORST 4x4 you’ve owned?

If you consider the worst in terms of what my company owned, as a shareholder and as an employee, it would have to be the Landrover 1995 vintage. Worst in comfort. Worst in reliability and Worst in after sales support.

White vauxhall ( trying hard not to remember the name) frontera I think - ba*#@tard thing, Didn’t like starting in the winter and real bad off road, always breaking down

engine management light comes on get that fixed week later comes on again with something else get that fixed two months later engine management light comes get that fixed, it’s up the road  Enough is enough

The good ones - since then Defender ( written off) , Nissan patrol 320 k mileage and still going strong and now a Toyota Land Cruiser all good motors never had a problem with any of them

“Worst” is probably too subjective - in terms of comfort and potentially important things like security and keeping the wind and rain out - without doubt the worst would be a Defender! However - if you’re in a real hole in hideous conditions then I’d say the opposite would be true!

Ive also had a couple of Disco 1’s that have sh*t themselves and needed new engines - they’re close to worst! Owned a Honda CRV for a while - that wasn’t great for anything much and an early Landrover freelander that was a nice road car but not a right lot of use off road!

Didnt own it but drove it for a nights spotlighting rabbits. I said to the mate, dont ever bring that again ffs.

It was a Lada Niva around about 30 years ago iirc?
Oddly enough...that was going to be listed as one of my best - refined? Not at all! But seemed to be solidly built! (It was my father that owned it) Had a Discovery 3 that was a nightmare...absolute junk....when it was going it was great but it really did spend more time at the dealer than I had it.

Gixer

3 x Land Rover Defenders, each of them managed to self identify with various faults of an expensive and recurring nature!

Followed by a commercial Freelander which was pretty much like triggers broom by the time it got sold on!

Landrover SIII LWB Petrol. Bought it off LR main dealers OTTONS complete with paperwork stating "34,000 miles, believed genuine". Well I was the mug that believed it, based on my experience either their dealers are con artists or perhaps 30,000 miles or thereabouts is the design life of the series III? . Anyway that was around 40years ago, I've bought a succession of brand new Suzuki & Nissan 4 x 4s since, all far better than that horrid clapped out "nearly new" landrover!

p38 range rover, constant beeps for the hell of it, radiator leak in the cab had to rip the whole dash out to fix, poor gear ratio, every thing that went wrong was a common fault apparently, why was it designed to fail from day one!!
