Winter gloves

Well its that time of year with the winter months apon us and everything is cold wet and horrible..
Any recommendations or reviews on some gloves to try this time round...

I have found the best so far to be dachstein mittons with ex army waterproof covers, always warm but can't shoot in them or do anything delicate. Sealskin gloves very good for shooting but too good for farm work and not as warm as dachsteins

Search fleabay for soldier 95 pattern leather gloves. Or I have a surplus pair of German army over mittens, size 9, fleece lined, for a tenner, posted. Pm me if interested, Dave.

ditto the above try simple fleece gloves or mitts one size to big under ex army over gloves on a string just drop off when needed i think like every one else i must have tried and bought hundreds of gloves i still go back to this for stalking and wildfowling most often

Neoprene gloves from anywhere with a pair of nitrile gloves underneath.
Warm and dry and at a couple of quid a pop cheap as chips.

Lightweight gloves and a charcoal burning pocket warmer. I have to use the latter in cold weather as I have a trigger finger injury that prevents full blood circulation.

By all means purchase a pair of wonderfully warm gloves like those offered by Hestra but you will need to remove at least one to take the shot:

I have the worlds coldest hands due to years of grinding etc
I use Hestra mittens with the finger and thumb separate and in proper cold weather light merino liner Very good

I am really pleased with the pair of MK II Combat Gloves I bought recently on recommendation from an earlier thread on here.

I wore my Sealskin gloves for the first drive this morning and my fingers got a bit cold...but swapped to the new gloves and my hands have been warm for the rest of the day...I wore them beating last week and although they went black with the wet it didn't come through the Goretex membrane and the lining stayed dry...

I could probably have done with half a size larger but they seem to be getting easier to put on the more I wear them.

The lining is a bit heavier than the one in the Sealskinz and is much less clingy if your hands are damp when putting them on.

Thoroughly recommend them on their performance so far...will try some waterproofing of the leather...

only size 11 left from where I bought them but other sellers on eBay...

Ive tried all sorts, fingerless, mitts, neoprene and ski gloves and I always come back to these which are what I wear for chainsaw work in the winter. They are cheap as chips, I just chuck em when they’re knackered and you can have two or 3 pairs on the go so if one gets wet stick em on the dashboard and grab a fresh pair. They are fairly waterproof but will get wet in heavy rain, they do insulate fairly well when wet though..

I've tried loads of winter gloves over the years.
The criteria has been must be able to operate the buttons and dials on scopes, callers and digital and thermal spotters and take a shot and load mags all "without" removing your glove !!!!!
I've had neoprene, goat skin,finger-less with mitt overlay, thick, thin. There must be 20 different makes of glove in the back of my truck I've tried loads.
There is nothing worse than being sat in highseat or up on a scaffold tower when its well below freezing and you spend hours glued to the spotter waiting to activate a caller if needed, or waiting for a shot.
After my quest the only ones that have come up good are Tredstep H2O Polar Gloves which are winter horse riding gloves. about £35 a pair so not that cheap.
I've had them over a year now. I can operate all the controls on my thermal and my NV scopes, take a shot, load up the mag and pour a brew from the flask all without having to remove them.

Leading on from this, I was also after some winter clay shooting gloves and the best I've found so far are Wilson Staff winter golfing gloves. I imagine some of the winter cycling gloves are good but never got round to finding out.

I bought a pair of these for my missus last Christmas.
the leads are long enough to go up to an inside pocket if you prefer. I haven’t had a chance to try them yet. Was going to try them on the motorbike but my gloves are too small with them on.
but as my heated jacket is great, no reason why these wouldnt be.

I will have a word with my man tomorrow, about the skytec. These are produced by globus I think. Wonder if traffi do a pair similar.
